Kenwood DDX-7017 installed

Well, thanks to the help of member Shake&Bake, I was able to get my Kenwood DDX-7017 DoubleDIN DVD player installed before this past weekends car show. As promised, here is a pic of the installed head unit.

More info about what I did for the install, the question I had, can be found here: http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/...ad.php?t=55548

Here's a shot of the car at the car show. It was the Mustangs By The Bay car show in downtown San Diego, put on by the San Diego Mustang Club. Anyone from this site at that show?

That unit looks perfect in there. That's a real clean looking stang you got there. Nice stance. Nice color. Nice bumper/exhaust. That's some real eye candy there!

Hey man.. thanks for the kind words.

The headunit is a touchscreen. It has non-screen controls for volume, seek, source, etc... but alot of the controls are touchscreen.

I snagged my off of eBay, a factory refurbished unit, for just over $500.

I love the look of your car, how long did it take to make convertiable? Also curious as to where you got that cobra bumber filled, or did you buy it like that?

He bought an 01 GT vert and then fixed it up....he didn't chop the top off a mach. I really like that head unit....I've been looking at getting one for a while. Were you able to wire it so you can play DVD's while driving?

Not quite sure what you mean about the first question... I bought the car as a convertible. check out my website http://www.mikuhl.net/corral for all the info on the car.

The bumper was filled by me, but painted by my local body shop.

Yes. The wire that is for the "parking brake".. I just connected that to the common ground, fools the unit into thinking that the parking brake is set. I am able to watch DVDs while in motion... which is helpful and fun during the So-Cal commutes.

Some of the newer units, like the latest Pioneer, use internal mounted accellerometers to determine that the car is in motion.. and there is no way to fool those... at least not that I've heard of.

Oh I hear that....Our traffic in No-Cal isn't as bad, but it's not very good so I can imagine how much it would help ease the pain. Thank you for the info regarding some of the new DVD players....Looks like I better get one before they are all like that!
