Bought these heads a few months ago from a guy on corral and now I need to sell them due to the desperate need of cash.

Heres the link to pics and info:

would one see a decent gain in performance from using these cobra R heads/cams? if so how much (hp wise)?

Probably not much, the cams are a supercharger grind.

Yes you would see some very nice gains from these heads. They out flow any other head that ford has made other than the GT heads (they are the same). If your were to put these on and add fuel you will see some nice power gains. Not trying to seel you on them just wanted to let you know some info on them.

The one reason they are worth so much is because there were only 300 sets of these heads made.

The cams are not a supercharger grind, the R was N/A and a cobra R motor makes great N/A. The have a pretty big lift and will work with any N/A setup.

I will get the cam specs up later.

Re: 2000 Cobra R heads F/S

Just as an FYI - the "R" or "GT" heads will require a custom intake manifold & headers to work on our cars. Neither the stock intake manifold or headers will fit "As-Is" - the intake ports & exhaust ports are in a slightly different location.

This mis-match is why the heads are the current best heads for DOHC engines - the revisions + several other changes to the valvetrain provide the power gains.

A special valvetrain is also required - the 4.6 valvetrain parts won't fit...

The "R" or "GT" heads ARE the best heads available though if you can overcome the fitment issues with a custom intake manifold & custom headers.

Just wanting to let everyone know that the heads I have for sale have the complete valvetrain setup already intstalled in the heads, but yes Angus is right you will need a custom manifold and headers. The new GT lower manifold will work with and you can pick one of those up at your local SVT Ford dealer.

I imagine Boss 330 knows someone who would like them. He knows all the players in the modular performance world.

Just a note since all the details have not made it to surface yet. The Cobra R intake is only N/A intake and they are rare and pricy, not much better with GT blower intake. They are both 5.4 intakes, not 4.6. There are no 4.6 intakes. While the Cobra R and GT heads are great breathers, they are not a simple or cheap install. The GT's are actually a great deal through FMS at $3000 complete, but install is all custom. I went ahead since I was going to have to custom fab all my stuff regardless. On a Mustang, think there are likely better ways to make the incrmental power, at least to the aftermarket catches up.

I am presently doing a GT head swap and will be using a custom intake. On exhaust, I suspect you could use std headers by changing flanges, but not an easy job. I had to have my flanges custom made and headers will be as well. These are great heads, but do require a lot of fab work. By the way, one set of intake and exhaust gaskets from Ford cost me nearly $300 even with my modest discount. I do think one could adapt an intake with a custom set of adapter flanges, but you may run out of space under the hood. The intake flanges are higher on the heads and an adapter plate will add additional height.
