Bad cam tensioners...and if that's what it is (I had the same problem...hence my cam swap)...you might think about changing cams at the same time

It only makes noise when you first start it up...AND...sometimes it doesn't, but the noise always comes back..a kinda high pitched squeal/shriek....very disconcerting. The cam tensioner (which causes this problem) was toast...and after dissasembly, FORD...had installed it incorrectly on the tensioner guide, which is why it failed in the first place....arghhhh!!! Is it safe to drive? for a little ways I suspect it'll be OK...but it should get fixed ASAP!!! The shrieking noise will get worse and the cam chains will begin slapping...bad things happen and also with all the "racket" it makes...I also suspected that the knock sensors kick in as well retarding performance....

Re: squealing noise

Maybe its the pig in the back seat? I figure it to be belt related.
