I feel your pain....you know you dont have to lookk!!!

The good thing about the pics is the integrity of the passenger compartment, considering the hits that took place there is virtually no impigment(sp?) inot the passenger compartment. That should make the rest of you feel good to know that chassis is pretty strong!!!

Your right about the total loss! I didn't see one panel,trim piece,hinge,etc. that I'd put on my car. Sorry about the loss. I accidently went into 2nd instead of 4th once at around 90-100 mph once. It actually went into gear and rev'ed out hitting the limiter.

You correct about the car, there is literally not a single panel/ trim piece that is not scraped, dented, or crushed. Its hard to make out but the shaker was even crushed. But even with all that the car looks pretty good. I was even tempted to purchase the car back from the insurance company to sell parts (engine/trans especially) but it seemed like it would be more work than what its worth.

well if they let you buy it back for $2000 you can easily sell the motor/trans combo for probably $3500+

Yeah that all osunds good, but I already have one "wreck" sitting in my driveway, fairly new FMS crate motor and a LOt of great parts on it, but I cant seem to get anyone interested enough to pay me what I want for it. Besides, I made a good chunk of money on the mach, they paid me 24K for the car, I only bought it for 19,5k. Unfortunately my wifes medical bills are mounting, by the time everything is said and done most of the "extra" money and the down payment I put on it will be gone. Combine that with increased insurance costs and you cna bet I will be driving the T-bird for a while.

Three and a half weeks.... Believe it or not, I had not even taken any pictures of it. I washed it probably ten times and put several coats of wax on it and drove it about 3k miles in those few weeks.... this is making me sad all over again!!!!

I know someday I will get another Azure Mach, I had been dreaming about having one since I saw the BFgGoodrich (?) ad back in 2002 withh the Azure Mach on the blue background.
Worst thing is that my four year old son thought it was his car he was just "letting me drive it for 12 years" OOOPS!!!! I at least thought he would be old enough to understand when and if I ever got rid of it. He cried more for it than his mom being hurt. She seemed to understand though.

Actually my 82 is red, and plenty fast, but at this point whether it was the fastest or not, apparently my azure was fast enough for me at the time, kinda wish it had been a 4 cyl, then I would not be in this position. We were actually supposed to drive my wifes Acura that night but I decided to be the DD and of cours I wanted to drive the Mach anyway. Just one of the many things I wish I would have done differently.

kid i graduated with got a mach for graduation. hit 2nd instead of 4th spun out. wrapped pole. i was following him, honestly say it was the worst thing i had ever seen. the driver looked dead, passengers crawling from the car, blood. and this was kids i had talked to and hung out with on a regular basis. i have yet to hit 2nd instead of 4th and hopefully never will.

Good Plan!!! I have never done that in all my 5.0l racing/ driving. Its kind of hard to believe the tranny would "allow" you to do that. But just a stupid mistake.

Wife is healing pretty good, but its going to quite a while before all the scars are gone. Today is three weeks since the accident, and Monday is her and my birthday's. Yes we have a birthday on the same day. I am on shift today and on shift for our birthday.

That is the second most mangled Mach I've seen. Someone on here had a Red one, and fell asleep at the wheel, and hit a pole.

seems like with 2 major accidents i know of cause by this, there should be some sort of safety feature....... and i am still really sorry to hear about your loss.
