Re: Bassani X-pipe or Cat-Back first...

I got my Bassani cat back first, then catted x. RPM outlet has a 10% off coupon for SS exhaust, http://www.rpmoutlet.com/mach1basxheader.htm#2 . I have found good deals also at ninosport.com too. I called them both and Nino gave me a good deal on my x-pipe, shipping was fast too.

if your going for just some sound increase for now go with the cat back, if your actually wanting some power increase go with the xpipe.

I bought my Bassani o/r x from MRT for $344. More than RPM but since it was local, no shipping fees. Call up MRT, they can get you stuff that they dont even carry, talk to Phil and tell him Chris sent ya.

What 2K said. I had the catted x on with the stock exhaust and it didn't sound too great IMHO.

Re: Bassani X-pipe or Cat-Back first...

If you have an o/r midpipe it will sound like crap with the stock catback. If you buy the catted one it comes with o/r pipes that you can swap the cats out with. I went with the catted x because I had an o/r prochamber and the smell of the exhaust got to me, plus it was hella loud.

Re: Bassani X-pipe or Cat-Back first...

RPMoutlet has a Bassani X that comes with cats and race pipes, so you can change them out when ever you want...for example, a "fix it ticket"

Re: Bassani X-pipe or Cat-Back first...

stay away from the bassani xpipe its a pos... I first put it on with the stock catback, that really sounded like total sh*t. Then I got my LM2 Catback, fixed all the noises for about a week until they broke in or w/e is going on and i still have this marble in a can sounding exhaust note at around 2-3k rpms its not as bad with the lm2's so its gotta be the clamshell design (which is not a true xpipe) of the bassani pipe...... id try the slp xpipe or any other one that is a true X..

but get the catback first just incase all xpipes sound like crap with the stock catback...

The catted one is a lot quieter than the O/R. The cool thing about the Bassani X is that you can easily swap the cats for O/R tubes if you want it louder. The problem is the stock mufflers are not the greatest in the world and don't sound their best with any aftermarket midpipe. If you keep the cats on, I think it wouldn't be too bad.

The install is simple, jack the front of the car up, or put it on a lift, unplug and take the o2 sensors off, remove the back part and disconnect the stock midpipe, have a jack or friend hold the midpipe up and remove it from the headers. The installation of the Bassani x is easy, just follow the instructions and it will be easy.

I am not sure if you will get a deal if you mention my name. I just refer people to Phil because he is great on the customer service department. I bought the Mach with the Tri-ax already installed so I cannot compare it to stock. This is the first stang that I ever drove so I have no idea how any sticks are in a stang. But I can tell you this, it is spring loaded to the middle between 3rd and 4th so it is near impossible to miss 3rd...if you have that problem. I am not sure how you drive your car but with the the tri-ax, speed shifting into 4th at about 90MPH, you can get a healthy squat from the tires to answer your question, I love it.
