Re: Raceway Park

Tonight the track was wet and no traction for my tires. Cars with street tires was doing a lot better. 60 foot times went to s**t. Can't believe how a little rain in the beginning of the night can kill traction for MT ET Streets. But, we still had a good turn out. A lot of mustang Cobra's (3), GT'S (5), BULLIT (1) and one lonely mach. Wish you were there tonignt. Could of used some help taking them on. Couple of the cobra's are getting unbeatable now. I took one of them before he got MT ET Streets. Was A nice guy told him how I beat him. Now He's doing 12.72. Even though had a bad night with the track. I had one funny moment. I was finished racing, packed up and as I was pulling out. This white GT with big letters on his back window that says Country Boy's, pulls next to me. Two guys are sitting in this car and passenger asks what I had under the hood. I said it's just a 4.6 and I looked at his car and he had pipes pointing out the side. I said nice car. Then the driver asks me to race, he wanted to see what his car could do? At first I thought what does this guy have under the hood. I guess he didn't have much or he was serious when he said this was his first run on the track. Because I left him sitting at the line so bad he either was sleeping or missed shift or some thing cause didn't see him till I stopped at turn out (I was in the right lane, left lane right of way). Gave him a tumbs up and had to leave I had a friend waiting for me. Friendly guy's though hope I see them again to find out what happened.

Thumbs up Re: Raceway Park

I've heard nothing but good things about him, he just did 4lug to 5lug conversion on my friends 93, so when I can afford it i'll prolly see him for my gear swap. BTW really cool stealth shift light! I would've stayed longer but had to work today at 6am. I'll try to see you guys again next weekend

Re: Raceway Park

DISHNWISH,

It was nice meeting you last night too. Wish you could have stayed a little longer also. That is some good numbers for a first run. Your car has some great potential. The big question is. Did you get bit? I mean, how did that first run feel?

Re: Raceway Park

The first run felt great. The lights caught me off guard. It went to green so fast. I hope to improve my reaction time. Then I would probaly be in the 12's. Oh well! I'll just have to wait until next time.

Reaction time was my prob too, gonna work on it tonight though. Going today (Fri/29th) if anyone is going - I'll be in the Azure Blue. Last time I waited for Saturday they changed it into "motorcycle night" - arrrgh. Hope to see some of you guys there, friend of mine is bringing his new black 04 GT.

Aloha, Darrin

woops, correction, that's new 05 GT, not 04, LOL.

Re: Raceway Park

I did 5 runs, best was 13.5 at 105. Also had a couple 13.7, a 13.8, and a 14.2 (1st run sucked). Best reaction time was .6-.7 though, if I can knock that down hope to hit a high 12 someday. The 13.8 sucked because it was against a Camaro Z28 - I lost by .15, but I don't feel bad because I forgot to turn off the traction control that run - if I had fuel to the motor the 1st 2 seconds I would have taken him for sure - as he finished at 98MPH and I was at 105. The buddy of mine with the new GT is not a happy camper - his 03 GT he sold was faster, LOL. I took the 05 GT (a 6 speed no less) by almost 2 seconds. Once again glad I didn't wait for the 05!

Hope to see ya out there again, won't be until July though. I'll be gone for a couple months and have to put the Mach in storage, *** ***.

Re: Raceway Park

You reaction time doesnt factor into your ETs. You could sit on the line for 5 seconds , but until you move the timeer doesnt start. Only time the RT is important is during bracket racing.

The best way to improve your times is decreasing your 60 ft times.

Is the new gt a 6 speed? I thought it was a 5 auto or maunual????

He had a little better run with the GT the 2nd time - still in the mid 15's though. He just sold his 03 GT (blew it up) so he could get the 05 - so he should be used to the 3650 tranny - and he's been to the track quite a few times.

Guess my times were ok, just after reading "magazine" ET's and adding some bolt on's (X-pipe, exhaust, intake, chip, pulleys) expected a little better - like a 13 flat or a 12.9. I'm running the new Eagle F-1's (275's) on the rear which are pretty sticky, but am definitely thinking about getting a couple track-only drag radials - and some 4.10 or 4.30 gears. Probably gonna pull the chip out soon and get a custom tune or order a Predator - that should help the time. I got the C&L CAI and am worried that I may be running too lean anyways (with the bigger 85MM mass air meter and the Diablo chip).

I have to do the Navy thing for a couple months - so won't see you guys at the track until sometime in July. The Mach is in storage for now (*** ***). It was almost as hard leaving the Mach as saying goodbye to my fiancee, LOL. But don't tell her!
