Steeda TriAx Installed

Got it today, Installed it today. WOW what a difference, nice precise, the shortest tightest shifter I have ever had. It has a much shorter throw than the B+M I has on my last stang.

BTW daes anyone want to buy a used B+M Ripper shifter for T45

Tri-Ax Handle

Did you stay with the Tri-Ax handle? I have the tri-ax in my 93 and love it. I am planning on putting one in the Mach but have thought about using the Hurst handle and was wondering what you decided on. Thanks and glad you love it.

Ya I stayed with the Steeda handle, but I did put some hard rubber plumbing washers between the handle and the shifter. I love the feel; quick, firm acurate.

Can you post a few pixs of this. I'd like to see if anyone can tell or if it's undercover!

I just got my MGW handle in so I can finally put my tri-ax in tomorrow. I can take a picture of the tri-ax and the MGW so you can see the difference. The one from MGW is built much better and gives an even shorter throw.

I installed mine over the weekend and drove it for the first time this morning. It is great not to move my arm more then a inch or two to shift. I will post a few pics tonight of the different gear positions with the MGW handle on the tri-ax.

1BADMACH1: You can do either one first, I started with the lower stop by putting the car in 4th. I moved the bolt until it touched. Then backed it off just a hair, then shifted to 3rd and did the other one. I then tested by banging through the gears. Some people leave it so you can hear the slap of the handle to the bolt, I personally don't want to hear that all the time. Just make sure you don't leave the bolts to high, if you do the shifter may not get all the way into gear and pop out while driving.

ok thanks. I just didn't know how much distance it should be between the stops and the handle.

I set the shift stops just like the instructions said....put the car in 3rd, move the bolt up to it then back it off about 1/2 of a thread and tighten it down. Repeat for 4th. If you set them too tight you tranny will pop out of gear, too loose they are useless.

Hey guys who installed:

Did the shift pattern on the metal Shift knob
line-up properly ??

Mine was off about 1/4 of a turn. Kind of annoying.

If so, How did you correct ?

Mine is kinda screwed up too. The steeda handle seems like it has slightly lager threads on it. I stripped some of the knobs thread off unknowingly when I put it on. Right now the pattern is upside down. I will try to crank it on some more later. If that does not work......here comes the Liquid Nails!!!!

I tried to twist it on to line-up but no such luck. Now,
I have used some Permatex thread-locker and that
seems to do the trick. I applied the thread-locker,
tightened the knob completely and then backed it off
until it was properly aligned. It seems to hold firm
and I am confident I will be able to remove it
if necessary.

mine was off about 1/4 of a turn. Not enough to worry about. I think it is a little better since it kind of faces you when you look down at it.

Installed my Tri-Ax on Saturday and love it. It takes more effort to shift but any slop is gone.

It looks like others have enough common sense to use thread lock so the ball will line up. I figured it was a no brainer (flame suit on).

My only complaint is that the aluminum parts draw heat from the tranny. The shift knob gets kinda warm and makes my hand sweat during city driving.

Hell I just backed mine off a hair. I think I just tighted mine too much. Problem solved.... without thread lock too. imagin that. Sometimes I amaze myself.
