Re: New numbers
It is so impressive how much power you are making beyond 6800rpm. Remind me again, what cams, intake manifold, and exhaust set up do you have.
How did you flatten out that dip at 6800? Jerome |

Re: New numbers
One of Todds intakes. bullet cams, 480/235 range. Exhaust is american racing 1 3/4 primary stepped to 1 7/8 3" H pipe to 12" bullet race mufflers. no tail pipes.
I had to change the resolution on the maf curve to give myself more cells in the Y axis in the higher load areas. The computer was having a hard time interpolating between then larger jumps and no matter what change I made it was either correcting to lean like 13:1 or to rich like 11:1. More resolution seemed to clean it up and it made the most power at 12.4 with 23 deg of timing . Another thing I fount that with E85 having a vaporization temp of 172 the water temp need to be atleast 165-170 at the start of a pull or the power would fall by 20 hp or more. I'm not sure what over all effect it has but I also switched to solid primary chain tensioners to provide some stability with the 2 step on. I am also told it helps with timing events at high rpm. I would not want to say that it is primarily responsible for the hp increase in the upper rpm range but cant deny it is certainly a consideration. The peak number are not far from what I was making before +4 hp +12lbft but the curve carries far higher. Probably going to look at shift points at 7300-7500 if the tranny will let me. Re: New numbers
Thank you for the refresher.
Intake manifold -My hope is that the one I am using from Carlos has the same performance. In other words, not the reason my hp rolls off at 6600rpm. Cams - My cams are 240/238 110/116 113LSA. Are yours similar? Exhaust - Here I believe my set up is limited. I am using SLP 1-3/4 primary w/2.5in collector and off-road x-pipe. The SLP collector is actually a hair smaller than 2.5in. I plan to replace these with AR 1-3/4 primary to 2.5in collector. Thank you for sharing your tuning changes. I will discuss this with my tuner when the rebuilt motor gets tunes next month. If the stock tensioners do not keep the cams in optimum time, I can see sold ones helping overcome that. I wonder if the difference is less or greater than a degree. Good luck shifting that tranny that high . Jerome |

Re: New numbers
Are you still using the factory Mach computer?

Re: New numbers
Stout.
Good info on the tuning. I hadn't thought of that. Mine starts to get unhappy sometimes reving to 7,000, I'll have to move some more MAF points towards my peak MAF count.

The plastic tensioiners are terrible. Metal ones better for sure. The two step just takes its toll on the chains and guides. I know the last time we spoke you weren't using the two step much. Here are the tensions we worked on last spring. My buddy at billet works hooked me up on machining. I wouldn't run them on DD car as the would require inspection and adjustment at some interval. I am very happy with the AR headers. No way to get the tranny out with them in place but thats not surprising given the size of the header. We just need a day at the dyno together to swap intakes and see. |

Re: New numbers
Thanks for the input.
I have never used a 2-step. I am thinking my stock computer is causing the cut out above 6800rpm and the headers are causing the power roll off starting at 6600rpm. After I get these changes made I will see if the roll off still exists. If it does, then I would like to experiment with the intake manifold. Thank you! Jerome |

Re: New numbers
This explain things, lol. Do you happen to know the model number on your computer? Need to see if I can find one, high RPMS is where my car really wakes up but then the computer decides it is done.

Re: New numbers
MSE3 is the strategy. Sorry it is the 2001 cobra box.
I have spun it to 7500 with no problems. It's took me a very long time the get the ecu to work in this car as many of the tables are not the same. As the zya2 . I'm sure a far more experience timer could do t much faster. Talk to Josh Levin at JL tuning . He will send you the ecu you need and help through the process. There are a couple wires that have to be moved. |
