Tr3650 good for 8k rpm coyote swap??
Needs some helps for my future project!!
I bougth an 02 gt, about 2 days ago, for a 8k rpm coyote swap and I don't know if the transmission will handle those high rpm, if not does a t-56 could do the job or I will need something else? I was also asking myself if I should take the ECU from the ford racing coyote swap kit (heard people having problem when modding with this package) or any other oem ECU? I plan to install TB, cobra jet intake manifold and comp cams stage 3.

You're probably going to want to look into having a 3650 built for that. I don't think I know of anyone that takes theirs to 8k. You'll want to make sure whatever you have shifts like butter. A lot can happen fast at that rpm.

Get a Tko and modular bellhousing
The 3650 will not be ideal for a coyote. Trust me I drive a 474RWHP 7,800 rpm coyote around and have had many 3650 including some built ones and none of them would be good above 7,500 |

Can the TKO handle high rpm shifts? Everything I've seen shows they hate being shifted above 6500.
I love my T-56 but I don't know if it would like 8k.

If you get it done by Hanlon it will. Pro-shift 3rd if you really plan to shift that high in a regular basis. |

Re: Tr3650 good for 8k rpm coyote swap??
Have not seen any one be able to shift a 3650 that high. The new gear clusters that are available for them are rumored to have some more rpm capability but I have not tried one personally. Hopefully put one together in the next few months.
Street car or race care? Of course a well built faceplate would have no problem with that rpm. |

Re: Tr3650 good for 8k rpm coyote swap??
it's for a street/race car.
So a tr3650 would not do the job. So I should look at a modified t-56 or a tko600?

Re: Tr3650 good for 8k rpm coyote swap??
My buddy has a faceplated t56 for sale if you're interested. It's noisy as hell ( apparently that's how those types of trans' are) but he no-lift shifts it like it's nothing. Would be perfect for an all out drag situation.

You would be better off with a built t45 than a TKO (unless it's faceplated of course.) Call Zak at the T45source and ask his opinion.

I shifted my old Mach at 8200 with a T56 Magnum no issues at all

Re: Tr3650 good for 8k rpm coyote swap??
look into a road race transmission then like a 5 speed richmond or other brand. it will be faster shifts more reliable, waste less power and the trade off is will be noise
