WTB JBA Shorty Headers
Like it says above looking for headers for my 03 Mach 1. I am in California and don't want to deal with removing exhaust system when smogging. I don't want to go catback either. So let me know what you got. Looking for something decent no junk please. Can pm with what you got
Thanks in advance. |

Re: WTB JBA Shorty Headers
Just to make sure, have you done your research on shorty headers? Everything I have read says about 5 hp and that the stock manifolds are good to about 500 hp. Just seems like a lot of hassle and money for such a little gain.
But if you do it, post up the results. |

Re: WTB JBA Shorty Headers
i know cali smog is a ***** if you deal with it.. but i wouldnt waste the time with the JBA's.. although some will say they gained good amounts and love them. I just dont see the point as shadowmaker said.
you would love the power increase from a longtube though.. i gained 21rwh tuned with just mac longtubes and offroad X over stock manifolds and offroad X ..

Re: WTB JBA Shorty Headers
I have the JBA ceramic coated shorty headers on mine. I doubt its adds any power but they made the exhaust tone a bit deeper. Also being ceramic coated it helps keep temps down. I put them on when the engine was being rebuilt so it didn't really add any hassle. The tuner I use said the stock manifolds are good up to 600hp. Just depends on if you are willing to spend the money.

Most of your gains would come from a mid pipe. The catback is mostly for sound.

Re: WTB JBA Shorty Headers
I put them on my A/B and ended up removing the K member to get the job done. True you only add a few horsepower but the power is added in the mid range right in the sweet spot of the car's cruising range around 70 MPH. I'm also running magnapacks and their ORX. I'm pretty much deaf from the combo after a couple years on the car

Re: WTB JBA Shorty Headers
I have a set of JBA ceramics that came off of a 96 Cobra, JBA told me they are essentially the same, except for a pair of additional fittings that you can cap, they sure are pretty....but it is a lot of work for a few hp, I have not installed them and am still debating whether to?
Studies by JBA had them improving stock/close to, as much as a set of longtubes, if you are modding into the motor seems either do lt's or save the $$, for a bolt on only car they may be a good addition.
