trunk badge removal question

Hi all, I've been on here for a while, and got a bunch of good info, so thanks for all the info so far! I'm in the process of repainting the car, and its in the prep stage, has anyone removed their "Mach 1" badge of the trunk? whats the best way to do it, and does it go back on easy? thanks for the help!

Hair dryer and some floss. Heat it up a bit to get the adhesive a little loose and use the floss (or fishing line I believe) and to go behind it and pull it off. You will more than likely need to buy a new one. Best of luck finding one!

Re: trunk badge removal question

I used a heat gun, wd40 and fishing line. The wd40 will remove the adhesive residue.

You can, but the results won't be to your liking. Two options: Totally clean all the residue from the emblem and re-apply 3M double stick tape. Using a razor knife you will have to trim excess tape from the outline of the emblem. Unless you can find someone to give you the tape, a roll will cost as much as the emblem new.
Option 2 would be to use 3M plastic and emblem adhesive (glue). Very messy and probably will show around sides of the emblem.
Conclusion, IMO, new paint=new emblem.
