Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
just a ticking time bomb... prob going to spin a bearing.
where are you at power-wise? how long have you been there? i will be installing a procharger in the next month. i'm hoping for ~430-440. i'm currently on the bottle. my installer wants me to keep the nos, back off the shot to a 40-50 and spray it dry. that just sounds like a bad idea to me!? BUT, if you guys are pulling it off, maybe it won't be so bad spraying once and a while? jeff |

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
JayB is running 505hp in his.
There was a guy on here a long time ago who had an eaton swap and 100 or 150 shot. He ran it that way for a full season. He didn't blow the motor until he bumped it up to a 175 shot. IIRC. He's about the only guy I think who has blown one up due to power, and not due to other issues, such as going lean, too much timing, or a bad tune in general.

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
I'm making 452/431 for the last 2000 miles on my 105k mile engine. I don't DD my car, but I don't baby it when I drive it. The only issue I've had is I bent a shift fork on my stock 3650 and swapped a T56 into the car and it's been great ever since.

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
4 years 25k miles and probably 300 passes since going blown with no issues from the motor. A couple of diffs and tranny issues though. Also is my daily.

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
I beat on mine all the time on 11lbs of boost (turbo) 526/538 for 5-6 months with no problems! Got greedy and turned the boost up to 13lbs and beat on it and it hurt a cylinder after about a month. Never had it on the dyno on 13lbs but my tuner seems to thing it was in the 550+ rwhp range when it let go..... lol

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
I made 442RWHP thru a stalled auto... (Close to 500 if it was manual) 40,000 miles later and maybe 150 balls to the wall drag strip runs and it never missed a beat as a matter of fact I sold the stock short block to LOOKandGO and he is rebuilding it for another project. After the teardown it was clean as a whistle. Had 100,000 miles total on it. All in the tune and no overrevving think the automatic trans really helped. NEVER missed a shift. lol

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
Never noticed any issues with mine at north of 470 rwhp. The car was going 121 mph in the quarter. This was with a non-cooled Vortech at 10 psi. But I did have some butting of the top rings. Keep in mind that the stock gap of the upper ring is around 0.011". That is way, way on the tight side for any kind of power adder. I never broke a ring land which is usually what happens when the ring ends hit, but there was some light scuffing in the upper part of a couple of the cylinders. I had it apart to do a "wellness check" and to replace some valve guides. I was able to hone the cylinders and run it (naturally aspirated for now), but it'll get new pistons and rods prior to the next power adder.

Re: hois making more than 450 stock bottom end??
Stock motor all around (other than injectors and MAF). 500 rwhp / 426 rwtq for 9 years, and almost 40,000 miles. Daily driven in nice weather.
The only things I've ever had to replace included the rear-end and the clutch. The car has never broken. I've owned it since new.
