Vortech Cutting Hole in shaker
Just was wondering thoughts and idea's of people who already installed their vortech kit. Going over the instructions, it tells you to cut a hole in the shaker for clearance reasons. First thought about this. okay now the alternator comes through the shaker and is exposed to outside elements. Not just rain but even if you wash the car and what not. Second thing that bothers me about this is that now they want me to butcher my shaker which is what makes are cars so unique. Is there anyone who has found a way to do this without cutting the shaker? If i do have to cut the shaker, I think I am going to weld in a hump to keep the alternator covered. If you ask me, these engineers should have done a little better of a job designing this kit. The blower and mount fit great but alot of the other fabrications are pretty cheap and not done right.
Thanks for advise in advance!

Re: Vortech Cutting Hole in shaker
If you have an intake spacer, you dont need to modify your shaker. I finished the install of my V3 SCi and there is plenty of clearance with a 3/8 spacer.

Re: Vortech Cutting Hole in shaker
Okay I will buy a spacer. What website do you get those from? Also since you have the v3? How do you go about checking your supercharger oil? The crossover bar is right on top of mine.

PM Roy on this site. He can get a spacer to you relatively quickly. See my response to your PM re going regarding the V3 dipstick.

Re: Vortech Cutting Hole in shaker
I cut the hole in the shaker for my vortech system in 2004 and the alternator and the rest of the system and car are perfectly fine. If you can get around in then by all means go ahead, but if you have to cut it, its not a big deal. I have had no issues from it in 9 years.
