My parents were married in 1964. They started out with nothing, and after me and my sister were born 1 & 2 years later they literally got down to counting pennies to get to the next payday. You look at alot of the marriages from that era and before, and it seems like most all started out like that.

OK so after lots of consideration i wanted to get her a ring with saffires but after looking at them next to the diamonds they looked too dark so saw this ring and fell in love with it let me know what you think

Nice ring, I thought those were saphires at first so I had to do a little investigating on blue diamonds. I personally dont get the whole diamond fetish. Everytime I buy my wife jewelery I just shake my head. My wife does constantly get comments on her rings which to her is the equivalent of a "hey nice ride man".

Me going into the Diamond Cellar is like her going into Jegs with me.

That ring is beautiful. I wanted to get my wife something different like that, but she kept insisting on clear... all clear and white gold. I went with the quad center to keep the price down, but still get a bigger ring. It's those **** 1+ carat diamonds that jack the price up. Hope she likes it!

My wife use to work at a jewlery store and alot of people don't know that jewerly stores mark up the price as high as 75%. Yes, that is right, 75%. That is why they can give such big discounts.

May I suggest looking in the discounted section. Dont think the stuff there is inferior...its not.
You can save tons of money and have an amazing product.

Also, find a Mom/Pop jewelry store if possible.

The center stone is too small for an engagement ring. I am a jeweler by trade and own my own business. I am also a GIA diamond and gemstone graduate as well a master bench jeweler. As a rule of thumb consider spending around 2 months salary on the MOST IMPORTANT ring you will ever purchase for her. Sapphires can be beautiful for side accent stones you just have to get the correct hue. Look for Ceylon blue sapphires if you want a lighter hue or shade. They should be bright blue but not too light in color or contrast. May I suggest looking at this website www.timelessdesigns.com If you have further questions I'll try to help you out.

Nice looking ring - I agree the center stone is too small. The ring should cost around 3 months salary so keep saving and get a bigger center stone.

But... You can always upgrade down the road too

I agree with the upgrade as you go, we have upgraded my wifes rings several times over the past 20yrs. Her main rock is now over 2.3 ct and I think the total of all three of her rings is around 5 or 6 ct. I think the main stone we have upgraded 2 times since the original purchase then added one band to the original 2.

We keep in touch with our jeweler and get her rings serviced about once a year. They are more than eager to upgrade stones, sometimes you can do ok depending on where the market is.

Buy what your comfortable with, there is alot of expense coming up.
