Mach 1 selling price

Has anyone out there put their car up a higher then normal price and sold it? Like with the attitude if it sells great if not no big deal. I have an 03 black with a couple of mods in ex. cond. and 26000 miles. I thought about thrown it out there for $17,000 just to see what happens. I know thats high but has anyone been that lucky?

Re: Mach 1 selling price

The value of a car is what someone is willing to pay.

Put it up for sale, if it sells great. If not, no big deal!

Thanks for the input guys. I was told by a car salesman/friend that you think what you want for it then tack on 1500.00. Then come down if the buyer asks. I thought 1500???. he said try and it you will be surprised. You get what you want and the buyer thinks they got a good deal.

I paid $20k for my 04 CO Mach 1 with 7,800 miles last January . There were many that were a lot cheaper, but this was immaculate with tasteful mods and a supercharger.

Did I pay more had its worth? Maybe...but it was worth it to me.

Glws. Hope you get your price.

Re: Mach 1 selling price

$17K isn't a bad price for that car. If you want to price it a little high, I would put $18K or $19K. My car is a 2004 with 16,500 on it and it's worth a little over $17K.

I would highly suggest against that in this day and age but that's just my opinion. IF you are trying to sell it, price it to sell. I look for sellers who are realistic, if not cheap, and that hey, if I get him to cut it 500 bucks all the better. If not, I already know it was a good deal. For instance, once I've done my research, if I do a search for cars locally I gotta put in a price range. If I know I want a 10-40k mile Mach, I put in $16000 limit. I know from watching which cars sells that's a realistic price. Somebody may have the car of my dreams for $17k, but not be willing to budge. His loss, as there are always multiple Mach's for sale. Now, if 2 months from now he starts getting desperate and puts it at $15,500 then I'll be sure to pay him a visit. Seeing as I know 40k mile Mach's can sell all day at $15k or less, then I'm only putting it $16k in my search. If the guy is a whole 2 grand off target, then odds are he's not going to be willing to come down nearly enough for me to be interested.

3 weekends ago an 01 cobra popped up on one of the searches I use, only 5 minutes away at a killer price. Turns out the dealer cut it by almost $4000. Suddenly a mediocre car became a great car overnight. Until that day though, it was just another average to expensive priced car.

Moral of the story is if you honestly WANT to sell your car, price it to sell. I have my vette for sale right now, and I'm not budging on price. However, it's already cheaper then any others around me. I'd like it gone this month if possible, so I priced accordingly. With today's search engines online, don't price it so it won't show up on others searches. $500-1000 of bargaining room sure, but $1500, I probably wouldn't bother asking myself.

Set your price, unless you are financially strapped.

I've set mine, if it goes, fine. If not, that is fine too.

My problem is that I have too many vehicles, but I own all of them.

Re: Mach 1 selling price

A friend of mine sold his bone stock TR 03 Mach with 10k miles on it a few months ago for $16,500 and it was an automatic. I didn't think he could get that much for it, but he did so anything is possible.

Re: Mach 1 selling price

From what I've seen, at least out here, is they aren't moving unless they're priced well. I've been looking for one for months, they always seem to be 2000 miles away. Your car, black on black with 26k is something I would buy, to give you a realistic offer, I'd start at 13k cash with ya, and 14k would probably be my max if I liked the mods, but that's just me. There is a beautiful 04 CO Mach being sold by Chawkins that's an 04 (no head tick), with a t56, it's making like 320/330 at the wheels, 20k miles, he only wants 16,500 to give ya an idea.
