clutch cable help

So the past few weeks my clutch pedal has been really hard to push down felt like I had a piece of foam under the pedal so I'm driving along casual as I shift 2nd to 3rd I feel a pop in the clutch pedal andi grind 3rd gear and the pedal falls to the floor with no tension. I get it trailered home to the garage where I look under the dash and the cable popped off the quadrant.. I do have an aluminum quadrant as well. The cable is aftermarket and adjustable and I took the cable off the metal rod where the cable connects to off the trans and I can move it back and forth by hand without a prybar.. I'm not familiar with much of this so anyhelp is appreciated. Everytime I put the cable back together and hook everything up it just comes right back off the quadrant and pops. Should the metal lever down off the trans that the cable connects to have some tension on it I didn't think.I could.move it back and forty by hand so.easy

Re: clutch cable help

If I were you, I'd get a factory clutch cable. They last forever and are the best for wear.
