Everyone Keep Your Eye on This

I am very curious and interested in this http://www.mach-1.org/vbulletin/show...p?threadid=954 Anyone that knows anymore about this please give info or I guess we will wait until Tuesday. I don't see how it can be raised more than an inch and not conflict with the hood though.

Thanks guys

Everyone please keep your ears on this I hope this is true but don't see how like I said it could clear the hood, at over an inch.

I think its an extension piece, that goes under the top part of the shaker. Then, put longer bolts thru the bottom, leaving the 4 ball joints the lower part sits on, and therefor, rasing it up, and not putting any pressure on the hood.

So I guess I'll be the first to ask:

What does raising the shaker another inch and a half do other than make the shaker impossible to see over and the car look ridiculous? Sounds about as useful as the "cupholder delete".

Its like changing wheels... you don't do it because you need to, you do it because you like the look of the new ones... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... if you don't like it, you're not obliged to buy it.

If you keep change in your cupholder, the cupholder delete might be a justified requirement in some locations... some people will break into a car, just for the change. Sad, but true.

The Shaker Scoop Extension Kit is as follows: 3/4" tall spacer, comes with new bolts to attach the extension to the Shaker. The Extension is also painted wrinkle finish black to match the OEM Shaker. The 3/4" size seems to be the most popular choice so the first kits will be this height. custom ones will be available...varying heights..particularly for the DR's!!!

Cost is coming. It takes a bit to assemble the costs and am doing so. I have a target and I'm hoping to hit it (it's pretty low)...stay tuned...check the mach-1.org for more info....

I want one. Where do I go to signup? Does it still "shake" as much when raised?

Oh, sorry. I thought it was a performance mod. If it's just for looks, then you are absolutely right.

An aluminum piece would look good on that as well.

Raising the Shaker

If it is raised, then it will be higher in the air stream. The question is, "Is this just for looks or does it have practical application?"

If it raised the shaker and the air goes in, but bounces around so much that it never goes anywhere then it is only for looks. (Also, remember that the shaker isn't the only method that air is sucked into the engine. The air intake tub that goes into the passanger wheel well is more than likely the primary source of the air.

I wonder how much air the shaker actually brings into the engine. I would guess maybe 20% is all. The design isn't very condusive to air flow. Maybe at speeds in excess of 80mph it might give slight air-flow improvement, but I can't see how it would do much.

It just looks cool!
