Re: Mach 1 Vehicle ID TAGS

I recently found out where mine was first purchased and I drove there with my Vin and they sent a form to Ford for a replacement. They called today and said it will be in on monday. about 4 days total.

I've got two of them underhood, one at the usual location and one on the left coil cover, and so far neither has faded much if at all. Glad to hear Gary still makes them though.

After about 4 years, my underhood tag started to fade as well. I was debating replacing mine.

If anyone has ideas about why this happened, I am all ears.

By the way, my car was a daily driver until August 2006, so perhaps the amount of time the engine compartment was heated up had something to do with this.

You know Tony, that's a really good point. Mine looks brand new after nearly 4 years, but the Mach only had 8000 miles on it....

Re: Mach 1 Vehicle ID TAGS

Mine is extremely faded and the car is not my DD. It has only 13K since the tag was installed and the interior tag looks new. My hood is up with the car outside a lot when it's at shows, cruise ins, etc...

Don't know why it would fade like it has but I'm gonna replace it before February. If it fades again I'll have one laser engraved locally.

Gary still does these I have a friend who just got one for his Shelby.
It is Gary Loat email is
bullitt@telus.net
Also on the comment of them Fading mine has been on since early 2008 and is not fading, even though I do alot of Car Shows and the sun is beating on it. Could it be the cleaners people are using, I only wipe mine with a microfiber cloth no cleaners.

Re: Mach 1 Vehicle ID TAGS

It'll fade eventually. I went through a couple of them. The first one sort of just evaporated after about 5 or 6 years. The second one, that I just removed, I had encased in plastic laminate, and the ink just went all blurry, to the point where it was unreadable.

So, with that being said, what I plan to do is make up my own non-metal id plate in Photoshop, print it on photo card stock, encase it in laminate, and attach it to the radiator support with clear packing tape. We'll see how long that lasts, and it'll be a lot cheaper to replace if it does get all faded or whatnot. I basically did the same procedure with the Kenne Bell script on the deck lid, and it seems to be holding up okay, been there three years now.

And this is the kind of thing I'm looking to make.
