Best cat-back exhaust

I'm sure this topic has come up a number of times on the forum but I just figured I would make this thread the easiest place for everyone to state their opinions. I am currently looking at cat-back exhausts and I know how difficult it can be sifting through all of the information about every cat back system. A lot of the sound clips I have come across have the addition of an x-pipe / h-pipe, headers etc. Just curious as to what everyone thought of just the cat-back vs stock. So, which one do you prefer?

Re: Best cat-back exhaust

I have the magna packs and everyone compliants me on how good it sounds. Even people with x pipes tell me mine sounds good. To me its quiet but people say its deep and mellow on the outside and really sounds good when I get in to it.

Friend had flows and x pipe, I thought it sounded to raspy. Flows may sound good on other stangs but I dont like them on the machs.

Just from sound clips, the SLP system is just loud. Sounds like a pickup.

Magnapacks, but you don't get the true sound till you get an aftermarket midpipe. I blindly picked Magnapacks and a Bassani catted X six years ago. Never heard a sound clip of any exhausts. I definitely picked the right two. It f'n roars.

Re: Best cat-back exhaust

With factory H pipe I Think SLP sounds by far the best I've ever heard. Perfect volume, nice high RPM wrath, great low rpm rumble - makes the Mach 1 sound just like Eleanor on gone in 60 seconds. Sounds good with O/R X pipe ONLY under full XSELLR8-tion. My bro has SLPs on his Mach with a catted X and it sounds good too. IMHO !! . I'm not saying the others don't sound good - heck, these cars are mean with any exhaust! I just prefer SLP

Re: Best cat-back exhaust

Mine is not on the list, but I have the Mustangs Unlimited Catback, with a BBK X with magnaflow cats. I have heard alot, and to me it is the best catback sound for the 4V's. And the cost is only 339.95 for a full stainless kit, with straight through mufflers.

I like the Borla Stingers; sound great bolted onto the factory H. Not over-bearing or droney, but loud when you want them to be.

Re: Best cat-back exhaust

Does anyone have any idea as to what the differences in hp gain are between these? Just primarily curious as to the difference between a muffler design (like the mac) and a straight through resonated design would be.

Re: Best cat-back exhaust

SSS terminator with any h pipe or my personal favorite the prochamber. You can't beat their borla sound with close to half the borla price ! I've tried both adrenaline and terminator catbacks and they fit very well too.
