Re: Ps3
I enjoyed the Bioshock series, Fallout 3, Fallout:New Vegas, and Borderlands (best assortment of weapons i've ever seen in a game). Killzone 2 and Resistance Fall of Man 2 were good frenetic shooters that can be very difficult at times. Red Dead Redemption (if you like Westerns). Mass Effect 2 (great realistic space game that plays out almost like a movie) is coming out early next year for the PS3. The Call of Duty series seems to be a fan favorite (particularly if you like playing online).

Re: Ps3
Adding friends is really simple once you get your PS3 set up to go online. All you have to know is their gamer tag and you enter it in the friends subheading on the PS3 main menu. As for games, 73Mach03 hit on some of the best ones with COD: Black Ops being the huge crowd favorite and best on-line franchise of all time. Buy the Hardened edition so you get the zombie modes as that opens up a completely different game experience that is perfectly designed for co-op play with your friends. Gran Turismo 5 just came out and it's on my Xmas wish list but it looks to be a fantastic driving game.
Word of advice: unless it's a huuuuge name game like COD or FallOut:NV try to buy your games used through a place like Gamestop as you'd be surprised at some of the games you can get for 20 or 30 bucks nowadays. Plus, with the glut of games out there huge price drops can occur in as little as 30 days after release especially this time of year. I'm still a bit ticked that the Medal of Honor game that just came out in October for $60 can be bought for 40 bucks at places but I blame that on Xmas and COD. A good time to get games cheap is in January when all the twerps trade in their games after Xmas break is over. Also, spring for the Game Stop discount card as you get the Game Informer magazine monthly for $15 and save 10% on all used games. IMO the magazine is worth the money alone even without the discount on games.

Re: Ps3
Agreed. Used games are a great way to go. Even keep an eye on sites like Amazon.com that will have special deals or drastically drop the price on a game once the newness has worn off. I bought Fallout 3 (new) for $20 last year and got hours and hours of entertainment out of it. Even replayed it (some games have a high replay factor).
Game Stop is excellent and their Game Informer magazine is terrific. Nice to pay less than $20 for a game, because a "mistake" doesn't hurt nearly as much.

I had COD and MOH on my doorstep the day they came out for $40 each. All you have to do is keep an eye out at Amazon, they run specials that give you a $20 credit toward the purchase of your next game frequently. For both those games they had release day shipping for $0.99.

Re: Ps3
If you like action games at all, you'd be remiss not to give Red Dead Redemption a try. Easily one of the most complete gaming experiences I've ever had. Great story, great atmosphere, great gameplay, great voice acting, and great multiplayer action. You don't even really need to be a fan of westerns to enjoy it IMO.

Re: Ps3
Uncharted 1 and 2 are pretty good, and exclusive to ps3.. But I do agree they both have their advantages and disadvantages..
