Didnt pass inspection- need help?
Recently installed headers and catted x pipe. 2 weeks after, the engine light came on. Took it backt o the shop and the cleared the computer and re-set some monitors. I was told it should pass inspection.
The 2 monitors that failed on the inspection print out were: 1. Catalyst This doesnt make sense because I have two high flow cats on my car-the car is tuned with SCT x3...is it possible to go in the tuner and turn the monitor back on myself (if it was disabled by the shop). 2. EGR Kooks headers do not have a hook up for EGR so we did an EGR delete to the computer Can anyone help? I have 15 days to take it back |

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
You won't pass without the EGR hooked up, it'll throw a major flag when they plug the OBD Plug into your car. Second, turn off the rear 02 sensors and you'll be set. I've passed many times without cats and no problems but the egr will be your downfall.

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
Got Kooks headers and a catted x pipe.
Apparently the tuner disabled the catalyst monitor when he tuned it. He said the Kooks headers and cats flow so well that it might throw a code if he enabled it. So he went it and completed deleted it. He went back in today and enabled it, but somehow told the computer that it couldnt support it. He thinks it will show up on the inspection report as N/A now, instead of Not Ready. I had a few N/A on the report already (A/C, and something else). He says this should work, so I guess we will see. I will find out tomorrow when i take it back. Thanks for yalls inputs. Wont be able to make it to Houston anytime soon haha thanks for the offer though. |

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
Yup, Gearheads.
I took it out there last night. They make the EGR and catalyst monitors "not supported" in the computer of the car. Took it today to get reinspected. It passed. So whatever he did, worked. Thankfully |

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
That is why I asked about gear heads I hear that theyare good but after a friend of mine went there with his shelby he told me dont go there... I am looking at getting some BBK headers and a catted x-pipe for my mach. I worry about the check engine light and passing emissions as well. Sorry that they did not work out for you either.

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
If your worried about it you could do the following;
Get high flow cats & leave the 02 sensors on, If you get an o/r pipe make sure your o2 sensors are off, If you get long tubes make sure your EGR is ON & is turned on in the tune. If you do these things you shouldn't get a check engine light!

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
:OFFTOPIC:What kind of numbers was the new tuner able to make with your car anyway?

However, I have two high flow cats and my 02 sensors are on. I have Kooks long tubes, but the headers do not have a EGR tube connection, so you have to do an EGR delete, it says so in the instructions He turned my catalyst sensor off saying the headers flow so well that if he left the monitor on, it owuld throw a code. Nonetheless, LT motorsports is "re-tuning" my car tomorrow. So I hope to have a better experience with them. |

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
So everyone knows: Borla is not the same high quality stuff they used to be... They're using Chinese steel and minimum wage welders. Been a whole stink about this on svt performance in the terminator section. Alot of folks are pissed!

Re: Didnt pass inspection- need help?
Heard about that as well. However, it doesnt excuse GH from not giving me the option to send the muffler back. I could have got a return or a full refund, instead of them hacking up my muffler and header.
