Re: preserving tires..
Some good tire dressing will help. I use to coat tires then put them in plastic bags for storage.

Re: preserving tires..
Dont store them in the attic ...unless climate controlled ,too hot....will dry out.

Re: preserving tires..
I looked into this myself at one point. I actually don't think it's possible, they will eventually dry out, maybe crack. I'm doing the same with the original tires, but in 25-30 years (if anyone cares if I have the original goodyears), they'd be more for show, not go.

Re: preserving tires..
you could fill them with nitrogen...? google never lies and google says that the moisture contained in oxygen (which isn't present in Nitrogen) will speed up the deterioration of the rubber on your tires from the inside out.

Re: preserving tires..
A couple of ideas. I have 4 rims with tires (stock) in my garage, they're in breathable tire bags, but I'd bring them in the house and design something if I had more space in my Stang room.

Re: preserving tires..
Ok. Got the wheels and tires in the closet now. I applied tire wet to the usual areas and let most of the air out. I hope this works...these DR's are only 1800 easy street miles old. Time will tell.
Anyone else have a recommendation?

Re: preserving tires..
Armor All or A good tire dressing and then in a trash bag. Attic is gonna be too hot in the summer and no mater what you do they will dry out. Always retreat the tires with armor all or dressing as it seeps into the tires. Once you are using them again was them off and do a good burn out to get rid of the excess protectant as this will def make them slick as hell and may not stick at the track.

Re: preserving tires..
If they're mounted on wheels, just put them on the car and drive them around a little every few months... This helps the rubber stay pliable. When you store them, remove the valve stems and let the moisture escape. If you really want to keep the tires for a long time, remove them from the wheels, put them in a good airtight bag and put some desiccant packs in with them. Its probably best not to use Armor All or other protectant on them. Its designed to protect against the outside elements (rain, snow, mud, salt) more for appearance. Those same properties that make it great for making them look good, can work against the rubber while in storage.
Storing tires inside is a bad idea. It won't be long before your family starts complaining about the rubber smell permeating the house... even through plastic bags.

Re: preserving tires..
If you keep the tires on the rims, do inflate with nitrogen it is a noble gas and will preserve the inside of the tires. Then find some large and thick plastic bag containers and put the tires in those. Then fill those containers with nitrogen and seal the best you can, this will preserve the outside of the tires.
