Re: anti lock light on

Is it the ABS or just the word Brakes lighting up? As your pads wear the level in the reservoir will drop causing the light to come on if you hit the brakes to hard.

Re: anti lock light on

you can buy a ABS diag (code reader) from Actron for $99 - at any autoparts store....not fancy but will tell you what triggered the code...The ABS system is fairly easy to diag and repair as the system is not complicated...

Or take it to a Tech...The abs test port is the same OBDII connector.

its the abs light. pads and fluid are good. checked that first. also my traction control turns off when my abs light comes on. will check on the abs code reader. thanks for the info

Re: anti lock light on

Traction control is part of the ABS...so if the ABS is malfunctioning - so is your Traction control....

Find the problem and both lights go away!

Good luck....

Did you have tires rotated recently?
Any other work done on the car?
Change tire or wheel size?
Drive through any mud or other gunk recently?

Re: anti lock light on

Mine did this same thing this weekend at the track, but I assumed it was because of the front tires stay locked during burnouts. Cleared up after one pass.

Re: anti lock light on

My ABS and traction control light have been on for about 6 months and my brake light for about 3 months (not a DD). I cleaned the sensors on all four corners and that didn't help. I'm hoping its one of the sensors gone bad that I can replace cheaper then the whole ABS unit. I'll be checking those sometime after I get home from my next buisness trip. The brake light will go away once I get the brakes done but I haven't gotten to them. Really need to take apart and clean the calipers, add SS brake lines, and completly flush the old fluid. I keep putting it off so she's justs sitting there....

Re: anti lock light on

Just throwing this out there, but it could also be a bad ground cable.

Re: anti lock light on

Mine came on about 6 months ago. Paid 90 bucks to find out the ABS module is bad. Paid 90 to put a used one on it that wasn't any good. Trying a 2nd used one as soon as I get it from one of the guys on the forum. If that works I'll be happy. All told, I'll have $420 in it with the $150 part and paying the $90 three times, but they qouted me $1100 for a new one so IF these next unit works, I'll still be ahead.

Re: anti lock light on

My abs light used to turn on and off at random then one day it just stayed on all the time. Didnt feel like fixing it so I took the bulb out. Just as easy to pump the brakes. Prolly not the right answer but it'll do for now
