Cars came out of hibernation this weekend

Well the day finally came. After nearly 2 months and many headaches we finally closed on our house a week and a half ago. After moving all last week I finally got to the point where the garage in the new house was cleared to put the cars in so brought the '70 Mach up first Friday night and the '04 Mach up on Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of fun driving both again for the short stint. Luckily the roads were clear of salt and muck and the cars are still clean! I'm just glad to now have a 3 stall garage. The single stall is even heated. We have enough property now that eventually we'll be able to put up another garage or shop or both. My wife has been wanting a Shelby and I've been hoping Ford would produce another Mach 1 or Boss 429 but with buying the home now, that shoots all hopes of any new cars but that's ok. That just means that I need to bring out my '69 R code Mach to Michigan and start restoring it later this year. It will likely take many years to rebuild that car, but I may start a thread on here when I do undertake it for those interested in seeing it and also to get some help and suggestions from everyone here along the way. I'm torn about keeping it stock or modding it a bit.

Love the cars, but I think I'd love that garage even more. 3 stalls and one that is heated. Nice.

Re: Cars came out of hibernation this weekend

Congratulations on the new home!!! I would take that over a new Shelby too.

Depends. Is the 69 Mach 1 all original #s matching? If so, keep it stock. Otherwise mod to your likings. I'll be tuned in to your project thread.

Congratulations on your new home. I like the HEATED garage. Sometimes I could use one. Though most of the time it's not nesassary here. BUT, there are times. Enjoy the new home.

Okay, Now I'm depressed. I am not sure I should congratulate you or be jealous

I guess I just say congrats...and suffer...in silence. Nice 3 car, with a heated bay, and those cool cars, not to mention a wife who wants a shelby...

I must have done something wrong in life

Good for you, we have a 3 car garage too! Ours is heated in the summer and cooled in the winter.

Re: Cars came out of hibernation this weekend

I'll get some pics of the garage up later this week. Just finished moving last night and now to start the unpacking process. Only about 1/3 of the boxes got labeled so it's always a surprise opening a box up.

Shaken, looking forward to the next season of cruises and will definitely see you there.

John, I knew my wife was the one for me when A) she told me we should start restoring the Mustangs I have stored away as soon as we can, B) she wanted guns of her own to go hunting with me, and C) she wanted a GT500. Needless to say the GT500 is off the books now, but that's ok with both of us.

As far as the '69 it is a number's matching car. It's also in 20k plus pieces which is the way I bought it in. The guy tore everything apart that he could. The only thing together is the 4sp transmission. He even disassembled the rear end. He was definitely doing the restoration all wrong. No need to disassemble anything until you're ready to actually work on it. It's going to be a major restoration and luckily I can purchase all new screws and bolts for the car because he threw them all in labeled plastic ziploc baggies in coffee cans. Well you can imagine what had happened to the ziploc bags as they all broke down and crumbled away. All that's left is a bucket of bolts and screws that are all unlabeled! It's going to be a lot of work without a doubt. I'll be sure to start a thread, but it will likely last for years as time and funds become available to work on it.

You should just sell the car to me and save yourself the trouble!
