Re: lug nut key

Just got off of the phone with McGard. They confirmed that they can replace my Lug Key by photo, and a Photo was sent!

Re: lug nut key

It looks as though I lost my key, too. Is a 19mm socket the one that I am going to need? Does it ruin the lug?

McGard is the way to go. Call them, take a digital picture and email to the email addy they give you. They called back withing minutes and I ordered mine.

Cheaper in the long run than possibly ruining a socket and replacing the lock lugnuts.

Re: lug nut key

I wish I had known that I could have gotten a key for it. When I bought my car, the key was not with the car. I had a shop spin all 4 of the keyed nuts off for $5 and then I replaced them all with regular nuts.

When I got a new set of black bullitt DD's, I decided that black nuts would look best. The gorilla set look great and the design of their lock is vastly superior in terms of strength for repeated removal (vs the stockers). Of course it helps that they include a code on a permanent label for replacing the lock if you ever lose it. I stuck it in the glovebox door so I'll hopefully never have this issue.

Re: lug nut key

If youre gonna replace all of your lug nuts, then upgrade the hell out of 'em ... but I think some, as I, was concerned with getting the factory keyed lugnuts off. And for the money, getting a replacement key for 14.99 is way cheaper than replacing them all together. The new key from McGard comes with a code card to keep where you want if you need replacing again.
