throw out bearing issue
well i have a zoom quad, with factory cable, after several thousand miles the bearing has started to chirp. i adjusted the cable and it went away, but then the clutch chattered more, got back under the car, and adjusted it again, then the bearing started chirping again, but no chatter. im going to go ahead and get a steeda kit so i can adjust from the firewall. my queston is, has anyone else had this issue, im sure someone has, and well , is it possible to fine tune the cable to shut the bearing up and have no chatters? simply because right now it seems i can choose one or the other, lol.

Re: throw out bearing issue
Sounds to me like your throw out bearing is the problem, not a clutch adjustment issue. I don't have any personal experience with it, but I've heard that the Steeda quadrant messes up the clutch cable. I took a look at one yesterday, and the edges where the clutch cable locks onto the quadrant look and felt pretty sharp! I could see that as being a big problem in the future!
If you're looking for a "quick fix" to stop the TOB from making noise, lift the car up, remove the clutch cable dust cover, and with a looooong screw driver, do your best to smear heavy duty bearing grease into and onto the TOB. You can use white grease in an aerosol can, but it is a LOT thinner then heavy duty bearng grease! Either way, it is just a band aid which will last a short time and will require the TOB to be replaced. Good luck! ![]()

Re: throw out bearing issue
My car has 65k miles on it with stock cable and I am on my second throwout bearing. Just went to steeda they put the kit on for me, he also told me Ford routed the cable wrong ( but he didn't show me it so I am not sure) so now its time to upgrade the clutch and bearing.
