Messed up Lock - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

A couple of days ago when I tried to lock my door I heard a...I don't know how you'd describe the sound...weird noise coming from the drivers side door. Now it won't lock. The passengers side will, but not the drivers side. It won't respond to the buttons in the car, or the keyless entry thing on my key chain. Anybody else had this problem? I really don't want to take the door apart, but it looks like I'ma have to. Any input?

Its pretty easy to take it apart. These are instructions for new door handles but it walks you through door skin removal.

Door lock actuator.
It might be parts of the entire latch assembly.
Joe Charles would know for sure.
