shift points with 4.10's

I had my 4.10's in stalled and I am wanting to know what you guys shitf at on WOT pulls. With the 3.55's I would shift at 6K because the car felt like it ran out of steam past that.

So now do I take to 7200 or keep short shifting at 6K. Thanks

LMAO, ever heard of the search feature?

you would be amazed at what you can find for shift points if you utilized it.

I would never short shift a n/a vehicle. I shifted between 6800-7000 before and after my 4:10 gears. Now I shift at 6500, but I'm charged

You shift to keep the motor in its powerband so changing gears doesn't effect that. You just go through the powerband quicker. If you're still running the 3650 trans, try 6800 1-2, 6500 2-3, 6200 3-4 and see if that helps at the track....and optimize for your application from there. Shifting at different rpms is all about maximizing the power under the curve.

The power band has nothing to do with what gear your in. If it's best to shift at 6800 according to the power band than that would be the shift point for every gear. Why would you shift at 6200 rpm's when going into 4th. You want to get full use of the little power these cars make.

I agree has nothing to do with rear end gearing. please re-read.

I absolutely disagree.
Transmission gearing effects optimal shift points.

The question was where to shift based on changing to 4.10 gears. I said changing the rear end gears doesn't effect when to shift; the idea is to keep the motor operating in its powerband and 6k in each gear does not get it done.

You shift based on what rpm you end up in the next gear to maximize the power you maintain under the curve.

Play with a shift calculator and see if you don't believe it makes sense.

Here is calculated shift points for my motor based on the dyno curve and transmission gearing:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Finding Best Shift Placement Points For Ratio 3.38 to 2.00: Found optimum shift RPM at 6813, which achieves 245 horsepower and lowers the RPM To 4031 after shift

Finding Best Shift Placement Points For Ratio 2.00 to 1.32:
· Found optimum shift RPM at 6629, which achieves 268 horsepower and lowers the RPM To 4375 after shift

Finding Best Shift Placement Points For Ratio 1.32 to 1.00:
· Found optimum shift RPM at 6303, which achieves 295 horsepower and lowers the RPM To 4775 after shift
-------------------------------------------------------------

Re: shift points with 4.10's

+1 about rear gear ratios not changing ur shift points.

Although 06RR, if u were shifting at 6k that is definitely too soon. The above posted shifts are good to follow

Because the difference between 3rd and 4th is less than the difference between the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.
