Re: Re-releas of the Mach one....2008 Mustang Mach 1

Putting a shaker on a Gt, doesn't make it a Mach 1....

And its definatly more than some flat paint.

I took your "as bad as this one" comment to mean that I was trying to pass it off as a Mach, and it looked "bad" for being a clone. I see your edit & can see what you tried to mean, but my natural tendency is to get angry & ready for a brawl. Its just how I am.

No offense was taken. I tried my best with that car to make it as "1 off" as I could. I was sick to death of seeing shakers & the 03-04 Mach 1 emblems pasted all over S197s.

I have a '71 Mach & love it, but its sadly for sale.

Well, no answer to my nice email to the stealership, so Plan 'B' has been launched (report it to eBay) as ttown has done already.

Plan 'C' on stand-by...

Not all Mach 1's were R-codes. Standard 351W, 351C, 390, and 428 V8's were all offered in the first generation Mach 1's. There were plenty of 71-73 Mach 1's built with engines that were not the R-code 428 SCJ, as well.

And how about all the Mach 1's Ford drove off the assembly line from 1974-1978 with 2.3L 4 cylinder and 2.8L V6 engines? They're real Mach 1's - as they came from Ford right off the assembly line, but I doubt many people will claim that they're "real" Mach 1's in spirit (I owned a '75 Mach 1 a couple decades ago).

You're correct, but in this case we're only talking about Mach 1s. So I see what you're saying, but its a little out of context.

As for putting a shaker on a non-Mach car, I'm sick of seeing it not because they may or not be trying to fake a Mach, but rather I'm sick of seeing it because its so d@mn overdone.

You probably would have cringed at my '75 Mach 1. I bought it used when it was just a few years old. V6, 4-speed, 3.55 gears from the factory. I added a '69 Mach 1 hood scoop (standard scoop with the turn signals in the back, not the Shaker), LeMans stripes over the top, rear/side window louvers, 5-lug conversion for bigger wheels/tires, then started modding the drivetrain and knocked 5 seconds off its pathetic 1/4 mile times. It was already a Mach 1, so I didn't feel bad putting the '69 Mach 1 scoop on it (much like many 03/04 Mach 1 owners like putting the Cobra Jet script on their Shakers even though the 4.6L 4V is not a Cobra Jet).

Now for a 180 degree twist, I've been dumbing down my 2007 Mustang GT to make it look like a V6 model: V6 Pony Package grille and foglights, V6 Pony Package fender emblems in place of the GT emblems, no rear wing (factory delete), V6 Pony Package 17" gray Bullitt-style wheels, etc. It's funny how many people think it's a V6 car, until I pop the hood and they see a supercharged V8.

Hello fellow Mark-ers,

I think that if we all sent a note to Ebay about this BS 2008 Mach 1 issue, it would not take to long for the addvert. to vanish. In fact, I believe I have seen 3 add's like this.

Hope all join, as for me, Notice goes to Ebay tonight. Battle-Stations Boys and Girls - this is not a drill!!!

I agree with Bob's response below. There is a difference between heritage and 'factory' options and dealer added mark up knock offs. One is legit, the other is plain deceitful.

See above (and psst...the 71-73s were 429SCJs, not 428s).

I probably would have cringed if it looks like what I'm picturing from your description. I'm not a a fan of the CJ emblems on the new edge mach's either. However, the 'R-code' designation for heritage was for the 428CJ. Therefore I can see why some people accept it.

On the 180 degree twist, there's a difference between designing a sleeper and mocking a vehicle.

I see from the link on the first page that he has put 2008 Ford Mustang in the title and conversion parts in his text. I guess my complaint to Ebay must have worked as slow as it was. Funny they usully just delist it and make you start over.
