Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
time to start another debate before my next purchase for the mach....
Which of these 2 tires is better for STRIP use only. ive got a 2nd pair of rims coming, which will mount one of these brands of tires.... they will be used to drive from my house to the strip and back again.. NO DAILY STREET USE.

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
BFG's all the way. I had a set on my 5.0 coupe with bolt-ons and 150hp shot of squeeze and they worked great for me. I was running an automatic with a 2400 stall. They only spun about 2-3 feet on the nitrous. Great drag strip tire, not so good in the rain.

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
I agree! Even better get a 15x8 rim with 26x10.5x15 MT et streets. They are lighter than the drag radials, and hook like a mofo! If those tires were the last tires on earth I would go with the BFG's. I have sported 1.8 60 fts with those, borrowing them from a friend.

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
I have Nittos and really dont care for them. With my setup they will not hook up at the track well at all. I'm running 17/35/315. You really do better not hitting the water box. I'm going to MTs....

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
Everything I have always read says BFGs are better than Nitto for pure track use.
Nittos are much better in the rain. I am on 5th set of Nitto DRs because i drive everyday with drag radials and don't like doing the "rain dance"

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
This should sum it up:
Track use: MT > BFG > Nitto Everyday street use: Nitto > BFG or MT

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
I don't have any experience with the BFG or MT, but I have always heard that they hook much better than the Nitto's for the track.
That being said, my nittos hook pretty well for me. I am still getting used to the track with them seeing as I have only been once on them, but I am very happy with them. If I were going for a track tire, I think I would go with the MT's. |

Nittos are your 'seasonal' DR. They seem to handle the rain better. I have a pullied Cobra too, and the Nittos are great for d/d duty, but are definately not the tire that the other brands are. They will for sure outlast other DRs. The only reason they are on the car is because they were on it when I bought it. I've have the backordered 315/17 MTs coming in a couple of months...

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
On a side note, I did get caught in the rain w/ BFG DRs for about 20 miles. I usually run them only to the drag strip and back, but one time I did make a detour to a cruise night. I had no problems, but I did not go over 45 mph. Was on a 2 lane road. I think that some of the people behind me weren't to happy but oh well. I don't know if MTs would of done as well.

Re: Nitto 555r VS BFG KDW DR
If they're for track only, why not get a set of M/T ET Streets or Hoosier DOT radials? I know the Hoosiers come in 17"
