Nitto calls it a "ROAD COURSE RADIAL"
100 Treadwear
DOT Street Legal
Not Recommended for wet use.

tire starts with 6/32's of tread and can be shaved to 3/32's (slick) with two circumferential grooves

I don't really know. All I know is that I love the tread pattern, the tires are soft, and they are made by Nitto. I am also running these tires up front in a size of 275/45/17. This is more tire than I need up front, but they look great.

I will post pictures when they are mounted on the car.

Its pretty much a "DOT drag radial", for turning. If you will allow the use of the comparison...

Let me know how they feel on the road please. These are the tires I plan on purchasing for OT and the racing I'm going to be doing..

I don't think so. Nitto calls it a dry competition radial with the road racer in mind. My guess is that it has a pretty stiff sidewall (not good for drag racing).

its a road race tire. made for gripping corners. so no this tire would not be a DR.

Re: Picture of Nitto NT01 315/35/17's

I went through a set fast on the road.

Better traction than street Nitto, but not as good as drag radial.

HARD sidewall

Re: Picture of Nitto NT01 315/35/17's

I have about 800 miles on these tires, and they still look new. Of course, I am not out racing my car. I do not know, but they probably do not hook up as well as Nitto DR's, but they are soft, and they definitely hook up well enough for my power level and driving habits.

Re: Picture of Nitto NT01 315/35/17's

I have something odd and interesting to report about these tires. For those of us who are running soft tires (treadwear 100 or less), you likely have noticed the increased build up of black dust on the rear of the car after spirited drives. After putting these NT01's on, I have noticed that the build up of black dust on the rear of the car has decreased dramatically. I can't think of any other explanation for this. It has to be something about these tires.

Am I crazy?
