Ya Id walk away from that estimate myself!! so far out in left field!!

I built a stroked, cammed terminator motor, 6K, that included all machine cost, fresh valve job, etc, even had the valve cover powered coated!!

Re and Re ran 1K!!

shop around...or better yet coyote swap it, now a days they make it so easy to do!!
The problem out here is all the MS/Amazon/Google execs are driving the price up. It is Silicon Valley 2.0 up here. Shops charge and arm and a leg for everything and I want to take my stuff to a competent place where they really know Mustangs if I'm going to pay someone else to do it. That is why I'm going to do it myself.

I've always wanted to visit Texas, I'm a huge BBQ nut. Once all this SARS-2.0 BS is finally over I'm going to visit for sure.

It happens every few years. The west coast, but especially CA, is vulnerable to wild fires. Every time we have a massive wet season followed by a really hot summer this happens. Sometimes it is a 2 year gap where it is wet 2 years in a row then REALLY hot. I think that is what happened this time around. This is the worst fire season in a long time.

I'm going to get on the wait list for the motor today as well as the MaxJax which are aparently sold out right now.

That right there is a prime example of the Texas state motto.

Ok, so I've ordered the MaxJax 2 post lift which is currently out of stock. I should see it sometime in early November. The Mustang wrecking yard is actively looking for an 03/04 motor in good shape for me. The guy said it usually takes between 2 weeks and 2 months to find a good motor. Hopefully I can get the 2 post in/installed before the motor is shipped out/gets here.

Now I just have to figure out how to move the motors around while they are outside the car. I'm thinking furniture dolly at the moment.

Do you guys want me to post up progress pics on the motor swap? Think I should start another thread or just keep this one going?

Re: Welp my engine is dead....

That was a fantastic video, tons of great info. Thank you.

My biggest issue is that I need to do some research and find out if I can use a Ford control pack and still pass smog in CA or if I need to use a regular factory ECU. If I can smog it with a control kit then I might go this route instead. It is still cheaper to go with a stock motor if the wrecking yard can come through in a reasonable amount of time.

I'm sure you can write the guy and ask him, i'm sure it can be done, but still for that price for that kind of hp/tq gains would be great.
I was blown away after watching the video, because the est price, which I believe down the road it would be something I do to this Mach.
This built DSS racing engine has right over 7K miles right now, I figure and pray that I get many years out of it before I have to start looking into doing this.

Well again, I thought this could be a something to think about and honestly the price is amazing for what your getting.

For sure. This swap will become more and more useful as time goes on. Some people don't want to fool with machine shops and engine builders and would rather have a nice factory motor that makes excellent n/a power and has boost potential that is just plain stupid.

Alright, I will post up a new thread of the swap I end up doing be it just another Mach 1 4.6L or a 5.0 Coyote swap.

Re: Welp my engine is dead....

OK guys, it took a while but I actually found a decent Mach 1 motor. It came out of an 04 stick shift and has about 101,000 miles on it. I'm leaving at the end of next week to go visit family for Christmas and I'll be back in January. I still need to finish assembling my MaxJax, I'm almost done with that and hope to have it finished up this weekend, then I need to bolt it down to my garage floor and put the car up on it. I'll probably have to get it bolted down when I get back.

Once I have the motor here at my house I'll spin up the new thread where I walk through my motor replacement. I'd like to get started in January but it will probably be February before I actually have everything ready to go. Work has been crazy busy and I know when I get back there will be a lot of stuff at the top of the pile on fire waiting for me.

The best/worse part is, once I get the motor in the car and have it running it will probably be snowing here and I won't be able to drive her for a month or so after I get her running again.

Re: Welp my engine is dead....

She is still running strong guys! I still love her. I'm torn between doing a coyote swap on her down the line or just staying with the 4.6L long term. I posted up the motor swap in another thread:
https://www.mach1registry.org/forums...d.php?t=137170

I'm also still waiting on my IRS cross member to come back from Kenny Brown. When it comes back I'll be doing an IRS swap. I'll probably post a thread on that too.
