Recipe for 400hp N/A?

I want that "big" 400hp to the wheels out of the Mach.
I don't know if this is the right combination or if it's lacking too much (probably is)

Stock bottomend
Cams (235/233) deg at 113/117. custom cams for someone else's app, but got a good deal on them. So I nabbed them
Fr500 intake
1 5/8 headers
Cai
U/D pullies (damper, alt, p/s)
Heads shaved .060 (11:1?) I'm not sure of new compression.
And revving to 7.3-7.4k

I'm hoping to make 400 to the wheel if not very close to it
What do you guys think?

Re: Recipe for 400hp N/A?

400 n/a is tough without doing a stroker.
Real aggressive tune and good fuel on a cool day for the dyno it might be close though.
375 range even is possible and very good for mod motors in the n/a state

Re: Recipe for 400hp N/A?

well i can kinda chime in. My car made 370rw on a base/break in tune. I maxed the stock injectors and maf and need to take it back on my correct injector (39 lb) setup. I should make atleast 400rw on 91 octane. My motor is a 284ci also.

seems like guys with good cams, sufficient Intake manifolds and compression make the power. Ofcourse a good tune and fuel play a big factor as well.

I love the N/A power, above 4500 rpms is an absolute beast

At 17* of timing you have some power left in it for sure. They like to be around 21*.

Details on the head work? Getting mine redone and trying to decide how much $ to drop on the heads.

Also, I thought decking the heads was recommended to be .030".

Thanks, I was surprised by the power it made, he was trying to get me to go E85 and make good power but 91 works for me ...

I thought the heads were decked but i went back to my receipts and cant find anything on it. They are 01 cobra castings. After pressure testing was done, decided they need some love to say the least lol. so after a 5 angle valve job, cleaned up the bowls and minor gasket match was done. New seats, bronze guides, stainless valves, BTR Seals & springs. it also needed new lash adjusters and rocker arms due to the idiot that sells heads on SVTP but thats another story lol. So, i ordered Ford GT arms and adjusters and billet cam spacers.

Im using the comp 106500 cams degreed at 112/116

Serious overkill on some parts but i kinda was against a wall as they were the 2nd set of heads i had bought and still needed work so i just decided to replace everything. i also had planned on using the T trim i had at the time .

Thanks. That is basically the exact same setup I have planned. It adds up quick. I'm way over budget. From everything I've read the valve job, bowl clean up, and head deck is the way to go. Only thing I'm on the fence about is oversize valves.

You wouldn't happen to have pics of the bowl work?

IMO I wouldn't do it unless you're going with a big bore set up. The stock valves are close to the cylinder wall already. Going bigger just adds to it.
