95 Cobra R wheels

I was happy to be able to trade a guy for some 17x9 95 cobra R rims. The first problem that I had was that the tires were not the right size and was needing to be replaced soon, which then worked itself out and got all four new tires put on. The next problem was that they had bad curb rash, which I was not happy with. On my 2004 SY mach, I don't believe there was ever a time, but once that I got curb rash and I ordered a new one that night and had it swapped out.

While I could sand down the curb rash, I don't know how much time and effort that will be that I'll have to invest in when these rims are really cheap to buy.

I also was considering swapping them out with the gunmetal color cobra R ones. I just think I could buy them each month (because of the budget) and after I get 2 swap them on and then a long with when I get the other two.

Again, I love the gunmetal finish, but also like the silver finish. I think the gunmetal would look really good on white.

What is yall thoughts.

Just to give an idea, each rim cost $140 shipped and plus $20 to have the other tire swapped to the new rim.

kinda sounds like you traded for junk wheels

have you looked into a local shop to refinish what you have vs buying new?

You could say I did trade for somewhat junk wheels. I knew what I was getting into though. The wheels on the Mach I was trading were going to need tires replaced soon, they did have some curb rash, but not that bad.
I have not talk to any shop of what they would charge, which would not hurt to find out.

I was looking up price on facebook market place and it looks between $75-$125 to fix curb rash. To be spending a little more to get brand spankin new ones would be the way to go.

The nice thing is that I can sell these rims to cover part of the cost, figure $200, which would include two extra rims that need to be repaired that have cracked spots. we will see.

Check with tire and wheel connection or wheels of America.
Both are here locally and both good outfits. Pricing should be @ 130-150 each.

Re: 95 Cobra R wheels

Alright, new 17x9 gunmetal cobra R rims ordered. I did order the first two and they came in yesterday and then placed my order for the other two. I didn't think I was going to be able to get the other two as fast, but it all worked out.
I am very happy with oe wheels and how well they package their wheels and also how fast they got here.
I also already got the ones on the car sold, which basically almost covered the cost of two new wheels. so I was happy about that. So now they are sold and the other ones should be in shortly and next week have them put on.
I also ordered black lug nuts and they should be here today.
I'm excited to see what these gunmetal cobra R's look like on OW mach.

Nice wheels!

What do you think of those Sumitomo tires?

My Mach had Sumitomos when I bought it and they got replaced literally two days after the second rain I had to drive in. Can't remember the specific name and doesn't look like they even make that tire anymore... so just sayin'

I think they are okay, would rather have found Nitto, but I am loving the Firehawks though.

I had a blow out and the only thing around the area was those brand tires, so I was kind of at the mercy of who had a set that would go on my tire.
