Re: Alternative to flowmaster 40?
If you want quiet go with Magnaflow mufflers. My car is super quiet in the cab but screams at WOT. I know you said you don't want a Magnaflow muffler but they are great bang for the buck.

Re: Alternative to flowmaster 40?
i got super 40's and the drone isn't bad at all compared to the borlas i had and it's deffinately quieter then my old f-150 was. but then again i might not hear the drone much cause my stereo is really f-en loud usually i got a few warnings on base for my stereo and not my exhaust.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/0...with_11656.htm I'm starting to get annoyed but the gross popping of my Magnapacks. Sounds awful. I only like the sound at lower rpms and at WOT, otherwise it's annoying.

Re: Alternative to flowmaster 40?
I've got an old borla catback system that is 20 times quieter than the flowmaster 40's I had, almost as quiet as stock, untill you open it up. Cruising on the interstate is very calm. It almost sounds stock under normal driving and idleing. Apparently it flows well and I am told it is a straight thru design, so it flows good. I don't know what borla actually calls it. I baught it off ebay a few months ago for $350 NIB shipped. It apparently sat on a shelf for years and is discontinued. The instructions call it a "V-8 power set". the cat # is 13895. It is for 99-00 mustangs. If anyone knows what it is, I'd like to know!

Re: Alternative to flowmaster 40?
spintechs are very quiet inside the car. I had the pro streets on my GT. they have a different sound to them, not really to my liking. I have an off road h and mac catback on my mach and that combo is amazing. I've owned 7 mustangs and this is by far the best combo i have ever had....the 4 valve doesn't hurt either.
