what supercharger to get

have about 5500 to spend what supercharger and where to get it from. ps my motor interinals are all stock plus are my 410s too much gear now.i am leaning towards a procharger looking for about 450 rwhp and maybe 430 for torque, also do the kits come with everthing i will need.my only other problem is the closest dyno tuner is 1 hour away can i get the mach there without killing the motor with the new supercharger installed.

Re: what supercharger to get

The 4.10's will work great with any centi compressor! Remember the centi needs the engine rpm to build your boost so the gears work great with that combo. As far as which type of S/C to get, well that would depend on what you are planning on using it for. To me the posi units (KB, Eatons etc) are better street racing s/c as they deliver the torque down low so you get a better seat of the pants feel. IMHO the centi is a better track s/c and also IMHO I think that the centi is easier on your motors internals as the torque gains are linear to rpm. You will see numerous post about blown motors, but that is mostly bad tunes or people who got greedy with the hp/boost. I am pushing 458 on a mustang dyno and I think I am on borrowed time. I did run 403rw for over a year and have zero problems on my stock internals. Engine life will also depend on how hard you are on your motor after you get boosted.

If I had to do it over... Procharger D1 on the stock motor with a very conservative tune would be my choice.

Re: what supercharger to get

I don't think you can go wrong with either Vortech or Procharger. Just find the best deal. However, I had a vortech, and know for a fact the install was moderately easy, according to my installer. The procharger, from what I've heard and read, seems to have more issues with fitting and ease of installation. They may have fixed this by now, though. Do your research and either company will give you what you want. 4.10's is also what I had, making almost 450 rwhp. No problems for a little over a year. However, I drove mine only about 5,000 miles during that year, so that's not too good of a comparison. Don't expect nothing to go wrong if you go forced induction. You're taking a risk, it may hold up, it may not. I think every case is unique to itself. Good luck.

Re: what supercharger to get

I had a KB on my 97' Cobra and wanted to try a centi on my 04' Mach, couldn't decice between a Vortech or a Procharger, but what swung me to the Procharger was the a/a intercooler vs. w/a. I'm running the 8lb pulley and with the afm powerpipe I'm seeing 10lbs. Love the Procharger, but you'll be happy with whatever you choose.

I just ordered a P1 because I will not be doing any internals for a long time. You said if you would do it over again, you would get a D1 with conservative tune. Why? For future mods or better performance?

Because the D1 is like $200.00 more now to upgrade and its about $1000.00 later on. Like everyone else you will want more power to the point where the P1 wont be enough. You can pulley the D1 now for 10 lbs. of boost until you do some better internals later on. I was a fool for not going the P1 in the first place last year but it wouldn't have mattered anyways since I ended up with the Kenne Bell.

Go with a Procharger or a Vortech. Either one will be fine. You will have to get some sort of base tune to compensate for your injectors and or a MAF to be able to drive it to a tuner. You wont hurt the motor as long as you were to stay out of boost.

I have only seen the upgrade for $400 more, where is the $200 price?

Sorry but I wasn't sure on the price. The point was it's a lot cheaper now rather than later.

Re: what supercharger to get

P1SC-2 or a D1SC. 10-12lbs on a stock motor and 4.10s will rock for a long time.

Re: what supercharger to get

WIth only $5500.....I would look for a used Procharger here. You will need some of the $$ to be used for the fuel system, tune, and install. New kits are ~$4300.

However, that is just my opinion.

8-10 psi for 450rwhp Dynojet power....driving moderately with a nice tune (good timing and A/F, pending your octane).

Re: what supercharger to get

I'm running the P1SC-2 and am making 465rwhp 409rwtq. I also have 4:30's in. But I'm going to switch to a 3:73 gear cause I'm going big boost in the future. hahaha

Also....call the tuner. He should be able to send you a handheld like SCT Xcal 2 with a tune on it to allow you to drive your car to the tuner OUT of boost.

The car will not run properly if at all without some type of tune in it. New injectors and all.
