Newbie with a question for the experts

I've had the pony for about a week now. Bought it with 20,000 miles and I love it. When at lights or going slow I hear a clunk from the engine bay. It happens about every 30 seconds it sounds as if something is opening and closing and there's no problem with the cars performance. Any ideas?

Is your climate control set to "AC" or "defrost"? Sounds like the AC clutch kicking in and out.

That's what i was going to say. Mine does the same thing.
I think it's time to replace my A/C compressor or it's clutch.

Welcome to the Registry.

If it's not the ac clutch, post more info and we will figure it out.

Do a search , I recall a tsb out there for that, I think a AC line was hitting on something.

I had a similar thing, it happened when the AC compressor kicked in, it was the pressure hose from the compressor getting charged and hitting the firewall. Or at least thats what I was told.

Re: Newbie with a question for the experts

Yep. Welcome to the world of the infamous A/C thump. There is a TSB on it, and it is the hose shifting when the compressor engages. You can actually fix it yourself with some pipe insulation and zip ties. Look at the right side strut tower and the hose right next to it. When the A/C cycles the hose shifts and thumps againt the strut tower. By wrapping the hose in the pipe insulation it keeps it from shifting as much and muffles the noise. Hi-tech...eh?
