Kenne Bell twin screw!!!

Thinking of changing over to the Kenne Bell 2.1 twin screw. My wife gave me the ok as long as I sell my procharger first. Any thoughts, good or bad. I am gathering information at this point and I will be selling my Procharger supercharger stuff in a few weeks...

Re: Kenne Bell twin screw!!!

I've researced other posts and It seems the kits are reselling for around $3,000. I will have a few extra parts in the kit, like extra pulleys, a power pipe, lightning maf and extra procharger parts.

I personally would go KB. Instant power and throttle response and they sound so cool. You're a lucky man if your wife gave you the OK!!!

Re: Kenne Bell twin screw!!!

since you have a built motor I would go with the 2.6L if possible, the larger ones work better with higher boost and higher displacement

I don't think the 2.6 works with our cars because of the shaker. It doesn't fit. The 2.1 would still have great boost up to 17 lbs. If you go more, you may get slippage.

Re: Kenne Bell twin screw!!!

Wouldn't really seem worth the time and money to swap to a KB to me. You can make just as much power with a Procharger as you could a KB. The only difference is the torque and let's be real, on the street your tires can only handle so much torque, so fast. The tq. slope for a Procharger is much more street friendly. Now if you were going turbo then i'd say go for it.

Re: Kenne Bell twin screw!!!

Turbo would be awesome especially since you have the setup to do it. You won't have that low end power. How much boost are you running now? Do you have the P1 or the D1?

Re: Kenne Bell twin screw!!!

I'm running 10lbs of boost right now and it is a P1sc. I was debating to swithch over to an 8 rib belt so I could run more boost without belt slip. With the current set up, I got 510rwhp and 460rwtq with 10 lbs of boost at 5000 rpms. The tuner could not get a full pull to 6500 rpm due to the 3.4 pulley, (belt slip).

I think you can do much better than that by switching to a KB. You would have to talk to one of their techs, but now that they have the 2.1 supercharger, you can run more boost using larger pulleys. I believe if you run their 8 rib system, you can get at least 13 lbs of boost and go up to something like 17. You are going to get more bottom end power too. Another option is to switch to a D1SC or even an F1. I think a D1SC upgrade isn't that expensive.

Cancelling my extended warranty only nets me ~$400 and it goes to the lien holder, if there is one.

You can at anytime cancel the extended warranty and they will pro-rate you a refund chk.. I did that myself when Ford voided my original warranty . I received my full amount .

If I remember correctly it is not the shaker that is the issue. I can't remember exactly what James at KB told me but it has to do with the length of the compressor case. On a Mach the blower pulley would be too far forward with the 2.4 & 2.6 and not line up with all the others. The biggest compressor that will work for the Mach is a 2.2 which will pump more air than the 2.1.

I have mine setting in the garage waiting for the longblock to come back from VT.
