Just installed SLP catback

I just installed a SLP Loudmouth catback. The installation was quick and easy. The quality is great! I have to be honest though, I was expecting it to be louder. At idle, it is almost the same as stock. At wide open throttle, it sounds great, definitely louder.

Re: Just installed SLP catback

I just installed my SLP LM1 on tuesday aswell. And I felt the same, when I started it up and left my house I was like uhhh I can't even hear it. With the windows up in the car, it's not too much louder than stock. Outside the car... Well it's a lot louder than you think by the sound from inside the car. With the windows down it's a bit more enjoyable also. Of course if it's the LM2 I guess that's quieter than the LM1 as well.

Here's mine, doesn't seem that loud when you're driving it, it's definitely loud though http://videos.streetfire.net/video/b...3b001140e4.htm

I drove for a week with no mufflers, just the stock hpipe and that wasn't all that loud at idle either. I think I'm going to get the xpipe.

Re: Just installed SLP catback

I've been through countless exhaust combo's. If you want loud then you really have to run without cats. I had the slp lm1's and wanted it louder, so I cut the resonators out and ran straight pipe. Still wasn't happy, so I just had the flowmaster one chamber muff's welded in and gutted my cats, and so far am happy with the sound.

Re: Just installed SLP catback

How much louder does the catted x make the interior noise level?

Re: Just installed SLP catback

Just get an o/r pipe like they said. Then it will be really really loud. Here's mine on the highway.

Re: Just installed SLP catback

It really depends on each person point of view wether or not it is quiet or too loud for your tastes. For me, i always had my systems loud with off road mid pipes and performance cat backs. Exhaust systems dont usually become loud until you have changed the mid pipe and freed up that cat obstruction. While the SLP lm1 is louder than most cat backs simply because it has less obstruction and straight through design than others doesnt mean its not loud. This system is mostly loud at WOT or above 3000 rpm which is the way i like it for my tastes and becomes quieter at lower rpm and idle conditions. Because iam older now, i enjoy cruiseing along and hearing music and a nice rumble of exhaust tone, or be able to hold a conversation with my friend, But not overly obnoxcious loud at all rpm ranges i use to enjoy when i was younger. This is why i bought the SLP lm1 system. If i felt that more performance was needed in my mach i would replace the stock mid pipe with a offroad mid pipe and replace the SLP cat back with the quieter muffler system to compensate for the exhaust back pressure coming through the system, if i wanted to maintain that level of quietness that i had when i had the lm1 system with the stock mid pipe.

Re: Just installed SLP catback

I bought the LM1 catback. I guess I'm comparing it to the 5.0's I use to have with an offroad h-pipe and Flowmasters, they were way louder.
Don't get me wrong though, the sound and tone are great, I just thought it would be louder. I know if I got rid of the stock h-pipe it would make it louder, but I don't have the money to swing that at this point.
