Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

As far as I understand, x pipes flow more and make more power than h pipes and/or prochambers just like off road pipes make more power than catted ones. So if the sound quality is not an issue then x is the way to go. However, some people, myself included, lie the sound of an h pipe or prochamber better than the x. That is all up to you tho.

im definatly love the sound of the h-pipe/prochamber..that classic V8 ROAR is one of the reasons why i got the Mach.. but i want function more than form or in this case-sound. i was looking @ the Mac online catalog http://www.macperformance.com/Online...Automotive.pdf
page 13 shows the function of the mac prochamber...looks exactly like how an xpipe would be--at least i think thats would it would look like... i still dont know tho!....

Surely there is more then a few people out there thats had both a Prochamber and an X-pipe and would give there knowledgeable opinion!!

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

From what I know, the X-pipe typically makes better power, due to the fact that it scavenges the exhaust better and "pulls" it from the engine, which is where the power comes in due to the great flow. However, the Prochamber is marketed to be for those people who are looking for the H-pipe-type sound while still having the X-pipe power. Whether or not it's true, I can't really say. I've seen it go both ways. Some guys put down better power with a good X, while others put it down better with the Prochamber. Either way, it's always very close (from what I've seen personally) and could simply be a matter of different dynos. If you're looking for sound, I'd say go with the Prochamber hands down.

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

If you get a TRUE X pipe, not a chambered X-pipe like a Bassani, then ANYONE would be hard pressed to tell the difference in sound quality with a chambered muffler, X vs. H. The Prochamber is much milder sounding than either with Flows.

I can tell you with Flowtech LTs & X-pipe (with Flows), my car sounds way more muscular than it did with a Mac Prochamber and Flows.

And contrary to popular belief, LTs do NOT make a car louder, in fact it quiets a car down in just about every scenario except for possibly WOT.

True X-pipes sound awesome.

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

Everything I have seen has shown that X pipes make more power than the prochamber or H pipes. The Prochamber is a nice alternative to the x pipe if you don't want the X pipe sound. The X pipe is going to sounds a little more high pitched at the higher rpms and a little more hollow sounding, but I think that's because I have a Bassani.

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

Go to Mustangexhaust.com. There are a list of mustangs with different x and h pipe setups as well as catbacks. I'm sure you'll find something there that you like. I have an off road X pipe with the Flowmaster American Thunder catback and it sounds awesome. Very muscular and throaty and deep. The best sound I have heard. Off road pipes with chambered mufflers sound awesome. Check the MRT Max Thunder exhaust as well. It's chambered and looks awesome. Good luck.

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

the prochamber makes more power... have had both and am going back to a prochamber... it's a deeper sound than the x-pipe and similiar to an h=pipe sound

There's not much difference in O/R configurations. Go with what you think sounds good. What catback are you planning to go with?

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

i found a whole sale Mac dealer. i know some people dont like the Mac LT's but im going to have to try for myself. Mac LT's, catted pro-chamber, and mac catback for just about $1000. i might just end up buying an x-pipe to see which has better numbers between the 2 since the polls are so close. but posts like BlckMach1 are what counts on my book! someone that has had both.

and thats if the Mach im looking to buy doesnt have an exhaust set up already...the one im looking 2 buy already has bbk LT's catted H, and SLP LM1's

I'd say get the Mac catback anyways... Mach buddy of mine has LT's, H LM1's and its not a good sound unless youre racing someone.

Re: Mac Prochamber Vs X-pipe

true x's sound alot like h pipes. Most people can't tell the difference between my upr x compared to an off road h. true x pipes have a little more unique sound and don't sound like every other stang. I have heard a few x's that sound very raspy, mac and bbk. Dr. Gas x pipes sound better than any other off road pipe in my opinion.

Yeah that sounds just like my buddy's. I really do not like the sound. The camera doesn't capture the bite of the raspiness. That **** is seriously, seriously loud. I really don't like LM1's with O/R midpipes.

I like the sound of the 2.5" prochamber with 3" Pro dumps. This combo still makes good top end power. If I decide to try a true off road X pipe, then it will be a Dr Gas X pipe.

you old car has a bassani x-pipe with a mac catback now. It's LOUD. Actually your old car broke into the 11's last week with php, jlt, exhaust, tune and a 125 shot on tires. 11.75 to be exact and 12.78 off bottle on et streets dumping at 4500.

I had the prochamber for a few months now and I just bought the borla cat back. I heard its the best sounding set up for the mach hands down. I know if its as loud and pingy as the macs are, they are gettin ripped off A.S.A.P
