PHP Intake Spacer Install

This is a "how to" for the PHP Intake Spacer. The instructions that come with the unit are somewhat weak and I thought maybe these would help.

1. Remove 1 bolt on each side of the Shaker

2. Disconnect the Shaker from the air intake.

3. Lift Shaker from the mounting bracket.

4. Remove the four bolts holding the Shaker bracket to the intake.

5. Disconnect the air intake from the throttle body.

6. Disconnect the TPS.

7. Disconnect the EVAP return hose located under the throttle body.

8. Disconnect the air idle control valve.

9. Disconnect the differential pressure feedback EGR from the intake by removing two bolts.

Re: PHP Intake Spacer Install

10. Remove the main chassis vacuum supply line. This line is the one that has tape around line protector sleeve on the upper right hand side of this photo. It has a spark plug boot looking end to it.

11. Disconnect the EGR.

12. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator solenoid bolts

13. Remove the 7 bolts holding the upper intake on.

14. Lift off and set aside.

15. Install spacer and new gasket.

16. Put everything back together using the new bolts supplied with the intake spacer.

I by no means claim I am an expert at this. I had my own problems with this. I did not re-install the EGR gasket correctly. Take your time and this is a fairly easy project.

Re: PHP Intake Spacer Install

Hey thanks for the write up, i am going to install the jlt cai, php intake spacer and get a dyno tune when i get money. Do you think it was worth installing the spacer, do you feel any difference in power.

Thanks

It's hard to say. It definately fells smoother throughout the RPM ranges and it also seems more responsive. Not sure if I gained alot of power out of it, but if I had more mods I am sure the effects would be different.

All in all, for $90, it's probably worth it.

$90?? The site shows $100?? Man.

Nice write-up as well. I am going to order one and install it as soon as the cobra is sold. Glad to see you found the problem you had.

I asked if there was a discount for being a member of the registry and that's the price they gave me.

Thanks goes to Comp Orange 04 for finding the problem.

Re: PHP Intake Spacer Install

Nice write up, just used it this afternoon and made me a whole lot more confident in doing this myself. Only thing I would add is that I went ahead and disconnected the throttle cables and return spring so I had a little more freedom of movement.

Glad it was helpful. I can see where the throtle cables being disconected could help.

Lightbulb Re: PHP Intake Spacer Install

does using an intake spacer raise the shaker?
If it does by how much? Maybe i should just get this instead of the shaker raisers (that aluminum piece thing) that some people are using.....??

It just raises it about 3/8" in the back. I was able to "massage" the rear brakcet down about 1/4" and then just added a couple of washers to the front...

Re: PHP Intake Spacer Install

Nice work... I just wish the EGR was that easy... I just slid my spacer in..
If I had to do it.. next time I will take the manifold all the way off the car..
