Material Hold on Mach 1's???

Hey, I ordered mine on 5/16/02 and have checked every few weeks with the dealer. On his order sheet mine is the first one ordered from his dealership, but all of the Mach orders have this code for order status, MATL HOLD. He said he thinks it is some sort of delay that sometimes happens with special productions. Anyone else seen this?? What does it mean?

I ordered 5/16 as well; means absolutely nothing. In fact I just visited my dealer today at lunch and nothing has changed. Still on for 10/7 but no VIN or schedule dates available yet.

That material hold was Bill Ford's way of saying you may have the order codes in May, but you ain't getting the car before October!

It's on material hold because that is when they will begin building Mustangs with the interior upgrade.

My dealer called me yesterday (8/19) to update me on my order. He stated same thing, "material hold until 10/7" is still showing on my Mach order.

02mach1, I've got a 2004 Boss Mustang that is gonna arrive here on October 31st, 2003 at 9:52am. Can you be there for a celebratory photo shoot. It'll be Grabber Green with silver/black reflective strobe stripes running down the hood and sides of the car. Maybe you'd be interested in purchasing it. Make your check payable to ....

02Mach, there is no way, as of right now to pinpoint a delivery day. When your order is scheduled to the plant, the your dealer will get a scheduled for delivery for the week of.....
The week of date will be the only date ever given.
I've been doing this for a long time. That's how it works my friend.

No flame. Just the facts.

I ordered in August and was told around 10/17 for my delivery. VIN number to follow. The only one they were allowed to sell all year.

Yes, but It is in an affluent area and sells a high volume of top of the line Fords. I was told for every 33 mustangs sold last year a dealer gets one Mach to sell

02mach1, we're all friends here, right? Let's be helpful to each other by seperating "facts" from "opinions" so that misinformation can be kept at bay. Those of us that do this for a living (like FordSeL957) know that Ford will only quote a "week-of" when they eventually list an ETA to Dealer. After your Mach 1 leaves the factory, it still has be be transported by train, truck, or both to arrive at your dealership. Ford has no control over the exact day that the transport company will get it there.Sometimes, they get held up for "quality control" or just plain sit a the end of the railway waiting for transfer to a truck/trailer for the last leg of the journey. And sometimes, they show up a week or two early (don't ever count on it being early though).

Moral of the story. It'll get there when it gets there, especially on a limited production car.

As a matter of fact my 01 was early by about 10 days I think. I had to scurry to take delivery before Christmas as it came in 12/23. I should be so lucky again!!!!!

my 99' M3 came in at least a month late. Don't sweat minor details. That is the way special orders are. We will alll be cruising in the Mach's before we know it.

This may be the wrong thread, and most of this was probably covered long ago. I have in my hands a 'Vehicle Order Confirmation', is this the same as DORA? I have a priority 11, and the sales mgr. tells me this is the only Mach they have on order. I spent some time in conversation with him, and filled him in as best I could on the car, much thanks to the many on this site that have educated me. The next sheet is an 'Inquire' sheet. It indicated various #'s that are important/unique to the Mach. Of note; the Int. Pkg. 18G shows 'Late Availablility-Job 1 10/7/02', and then 'GT Mach1 Models-10/7/02' The price level shows 315, and this is a retail order. The agreement is cost +$1000, seems fair to me and they are decent on the trade of my '01 GT. In our conversation he indicated that I'm probably looking at a late Nov./ early Dec. arrival, seems about right. Any thoughts or comments on what I have here, am I missing anything? Other than the car itself.

No the vehicle confirmation order just lists the info you gave your dealer and is sitting in his computer. A DORA is Ford's document that says he in fact did submit your order. My DORA was dated 5/16 same day I ordered but I understand depending on dealers it may take longer to get a copy.

Stay on your dealer and make sure you can get a copy of yours. Only way you will know for sure that order was submitted.

The priority 11 is fine provided the only one above you (10) is NOT a mach. What 11 means is your dealer wants FORD to build this mustang as the second one (the 10 being the first) to be delivered to him. If 10 is a Mach you get that dealers second mach; if it's a non-mach you will get the first.
