Console/dash noise disappears when a/c turned on
I've searched these boards but am not sure my problem is related to them.
While driving on the highway, I'm hearing a console/dash noise above the climate controls which then disappears when the a/c is turned on. The noise sounds like a low pitch rattle which is intermittent. If you shake a coin in an empty plastic coke bottle, you'd get the same sound. I'm not talking about the grind, clunk or thump that some report when the a/c is turned on. It's a rattle noise while the a/c is off. If you know what this is and if there's a tsb for it, please let me know. |

Re: Console/dash noise disappears when a/c turned on
Is it when the AC is on only, or also with just the air blowing without the AC compressor running?

Neither, the fan could be either on or off and the a/c is off.
Once I turn on a/c the rattle disappears. |

Re: Console/dash noise disappears when a/c turned on
the a/c and air controls are vacumn operated. it sounds like one of the blend doors is sticking or is experiencing a blockage to prevent the door to open and close properly.

Thanks, I would sure hate it if the dealer had to rip the dash apart to solve it, if that's the problem. It doesn't sound like a vent problem though unless I misunderstood your post.
