Fuel Pump
Here is a chart that i found with the results from a fuel pump flow test. I thought this would be helpful for all of you that are upgrading pumps for power adders.

I'm gonna raise a flag here Boost a pump is a step up transformer that raises the voltage to the pump. If the intank fails electrically or mechanically how would the BAP pull fuel through it? |

Re: Fuel Pump
Ok, 7 months later:
An inline pump added to the system is not the same as a BAP.

upping a systems normal operating voltage range can cause havoc... stock stuff is like 12vdc +/-2 I believe...

Re: Fuel Pump
Huh? Preach? Yeah, I do that sometimes I guess.
BAPs don't cause problems that I've experienced or heard about. Quote:

my point is that if somethings made to operate at 14vdc max, and you push it up to 17vdc or higher just to get more flow out of the fuel pump... its gonna cut the life expectancy short by alot. what else do you preach about? :p

Re: Fuel Pump
Oh man.
Why is it that so many people use the KB BAP setup. It can't be that bad.

Re: Fuel Pump
I would stick with the factory stuff, so you aren't messing with voltage.

Re: Fuel Pump
It seems that the wire upgrade is a simple fix for the 17 volts.
I'm deffinatly going with the BAP when it comes down to it. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...85#post3164685

Re: Fuel Pump
Check out the writeup on Kenne Bell's site. When the engine is running the voltage is about 14v. Three extra volts or so is not a big jump from that, and is only increased when you are under boost. Or you can wire it to run all the time. I set mine to run constant @ 1/2 way up on the dial, and close to a full increase at the track. Didn't have a problem, and will consider doing it on the Mach someday.
Another thing, it's both current and voltage driving that pump. And the current is what taxes (heats) the wiring and the windings in the motor. If you run more voltage the pump will use less current for a given output. So it seems the slightly higher voltage could be actually easier on the pump...

I did alot more research....I'm using a BAP...people will say all sorts of stuff, this seems cost effective especially since (like Bonestock said) KB uses them with their Cobra Kits...thats good enough for me...instead of hearsay. (to myself)

Re: Fuel Pump
So what kind of fuel setup would needed at 450 hp. Say it is through cams and 100 shot of nitro booze(with most all other boltons)

Re: Fuel Pump
Yeah, my buddy advised against the BAP as well. I ordered the cobra tank and pump through him and his dealership. Stock set up and works great. That's why I am partial to factory performance parts. All the research has already been done. Gives added peace of mind.

Re: Fuel Pump
i posted about a bap yesterday and it didnt sound good.what do you guys think about running a 1 to 3 gallon tank fuel system to just run my n2o .right now the pump is maxed out with only a 100 shot but if i ran the wet kit by its self with 116 oct the cost is not that much and down the road i can run 2 small kits
