Carbon Fiber

I recently saw a high dollar 911 turbo with carbon fiber mirrors. Tasteful addition that would look great on a Mach1, I thought. Anyone out there know of a carbon fiber accessories company that includes Mustangs?

Re: Carbon Fiber

There really isn't much available. The usual hoods and trunks is about it.

Yup, thanks. That's what I thought. Didn't have much luck myself. But still, if anyone can keep up their feelers?! Thanks!

Cool Re: Carbon Fiber

I thought I also saw a pair of carbon fiber valve covers but I am sure they were high priced.

yeah i've looked for them for a l-o-n-g time now and can't find any. last set i saw sold for over 2k

the coil covers are actually just go on top of the stock ones as well as the grille delete. kind of a disappointment on both but i still like them.

Re: Carbon Fiber

From what I've read, replacing the entire BODY of the car with carbon fiber wouldn't be worth it... the weight loss actually isn't as much as one would think.

Re: Carbon Fiber

If you really wanted cf valve covers then if you can get into touch with koenigsegg, their 4.7L engine in the CCR is actually based on our motor, and im pretty sure the valve covers would fit

Cool Re: Carbon Fiber

Carbon Fiber does look nice but for now its really expensive. I would think over time it should come down in price as the supply ramps up as more parts are made from it.

huh???

idk about the people where you live, but the people where i live respect carbon fiber as it's stronger and lighter than the majority of the things it normally replaces...

the difference is if you're getting performance/racing carbon fiber (not street legal) or normal carbon fiber (street legal)...

performance/racing carbon fiber is 10 layers of carbon weaves and doesn't look pretty. it's also not DOT approved because it doesn't break under normal conditions. (hitting a wall a 120 shouldn't be normal conditions for you)

normal carbon fiber is about 3 layers of carbon fiber over (usually) 2-3 layers of fiberglass. it's much more attractive (that nice checkerboard look) and much more affordable, and the DOT approves it because it can bend/break in a normal situation.

either way, it's almost always a lot lighter/stronger than what it's replacing...

Re: Carbon Fiber

i really didnt even want to respond to nor cal but since there are others doing so i figured i'll chime in.

he's just jealous that pretty much the fastest cars on the board almost all use cf. sorry if i leave you out but here are the ones i know for sure: me, lynemup, phil, turbo mach1, etc. (Im sure M1M will chime in as he is fast but i believe uses stock stuff.... there are always exceptions wild bill)

its also funny to know that almost every class within nhra, ihra, f1, etc all use cf due to it's extraordinary strength to weight ratio.... wheeltubs, bumpers, hoods, wings, dashes, doorpanels, etc.

and the ONLY reason you think it's rice is bc of the original fast and the furious. before that movie, there wasn't the high school kids cruizing around in their "rice" civics. that movie made that demographic THINK that those cars were fast.

look at the new roush, saleens, shelby kr and super snake, zr1, and heaven forbid a ferrari and the like....OMG they all come FACTORY with cf

now im sure i will start a big commotion with this post but its really nor cal. this thread was about what is AVAILABLE for our cars, not whether you like it or not. let me just say this last thing: bring your 600+ rwhp cobra and i bet my 408 rwhp mach will smoke it due to its weight/tire difference

I bought those for my Corolla as a cheap replacement, got them for 30 bucks both sides. They dont fit, the wiring is all backwards, so I had to take the clips apart and put the wires back in. and the mirrors have a curve to them so they magnify everything.......Thank goodness they were cheaper than hell. Stay away from this crap.

Re: Carbon Fiber

I have 2 sets of CF valve covers, I believe the one set is from Sean Hyland, it doesn't use Coil covers. This set is extremely light. The other set I have utilizes cop's and coil covers and are a little heavier. They do look bad as hell.
