Nitrous input
Hey guys, I'm looking to spray my Mach by spring, I just ordered some Boss 302 rods, and going to pair them with Termi pistons, and an NX plate..I plan on going no more than 125 shot this season, would I need to change any timing or do any 'MAJOR' tuning for this? Next season if all goes well, I'd like to bump it up to 300, but for now I'd just be sticking with 125. I appreciate yalls help!

Re: Nitrous input
I would assume you would need to tune it since you are also dropping your compression level, I cannot imagine everything running properly without a tune. However, I could be wrong...
I personally would never recommend adding Nitrous without a tune. To much can go wrong. When/if you tune it, I would suggest having the Nitrous tune bump the fuel pressure up to around 60psi to compensate for the fuel pressure drop when the nitrous initially kicks on. I am also assuming you will be running an SCT switch with chip allowing on the fly selection of the Nitrous tune. Also assuming everything else is stock and the Nitrous is a wet kit. So much I do not know about your setup... Tune it...

Re: Nitrous input
+1 to the tune, too many things that could bite you in the *** just pony up and get the tune man. Had I said eff it just a 100 shot without a doubt my motor would have been toast after putting it on the dyno

Re: Nitrous input
I wouldn't run termi pistons. Car is going to be a dog off the juice. Will probably feel like a 2v.
I wouldn't even build the motor for a 125 hit. Just spray and pray, but of course get it tuned.

Re: Nitrous input
Once I get the nozzle off mine and the plate on I'm not paying any attention to shot size, I'm going to start low and work my way up to the power level I want, whithin reason of course.

right now, I have an X3 which I un married from my old GT, and wondering if I should pair it to the Mach, I think SCT switch would be the better bet.. |

Re: Nitrous input
right on, so if termi pistons are no good, what would be good for a once or twice a month track day? its a DD but want to go play every now and again

Re: Nitrous input
I would imagine any off the shelf piston will be fine. Manley, Diamond, JE, etc. Pick your poison. Like DSG said, I'd keep the compression around stock.

Re: Nitrous input
I do believe there are recommended Ring materials/combinations and Ring Gap specs for nitrous motors, might be worth looking into depending on how long you plan to go that route

Re: Nitrous input
so bumping compression wont harm the motor when not spraying (DD'ing)?

Re: Nitrous input
As long as you as you don't go crazy high with the comp and have the fuel to support it and good tune, you should be fine. Plus the higher comp will give you more snap when not on the spray.

Re: Nitrous input
The only harm it will do is increase your power and efficiency therefore providing better fuel mileage and a bigger smile when you floor it.

You know you have the gas set right when the rods fly through the block. LOL
