IRS For autocross?

Does any one have experience with an IRS on their car for autocross? What class did it end up falling into Due to the IRS Swap?

Thanks.

I have did the swap but never figured out classing. I just run for fun.

Wouldn't it essentially make the car an 01 cobra? So whatever class that would be.

I guess technically it would be a cobra that looked like a mach 1.

I am wondering if because it is a factory part on the Cobra it is going to be a legal part to swap in for the Mach 1

Also - the 03/04 IRS is beefier than the 01...so that might mess with classing too.

I'm not sure what you are going for, but in hindsight from my experience and use, I wish I had just built the SRA. Would have saved a lot of headaches for me. 1/2 shafts are pricey, bushings are expensive and labor intensive, the diff is a pain to work on, and most have the IRS "clunk". Life would have been much easier with a PHB and other mods for the SRA.

Just sharing ;-)

After reading a couple of things from other racers they were saying the same type of thing. I all ready have the PHB in the back (Plus a good sticky 200 tread ware tires and a good portion of the road and track box minus the Strut tower brace and rear control arms) and have the car set up to run in STU. If the Rear control arms were legal in STU I would run them too. The car Handles quite well and balanced as it sits right now. I think I will stick with how it is right now thanks for the advise on your irs experience It helped me make up my mind to stick with the solid axle.

Re: IRS For autocross?

IRS swap will put you in ESP unless it has a gear ratio other than the 3.55s. But its not necessary to use an IRS. Build the SRA.

I'd grab a rule book and build to whatever class you wish to run in. Go right to the limit. Keep in mind that this can get PRICEY!!

Thanks for the info on which class it falls into. ESP is a class higher than I am running so that helps me make up my mind. Thanks also for confirming the choice to stay with SRA.
