Just bought my 04 Mach 1 and want to start modding - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

Hi everyone I just bought my bone stock 2004 Mach 1 about 2 weeks ago and I want to start modding right away. I already put on a SLP LM1 Catback and Eibach Sportline Springs. Here is what I want to do and I want some opinions on my choices. I want a good solid street car that will hold its own at the track and on the street. Here is what I plan on ordering in the very near future: SLP LT Headers, SLP Catted X-Pipe, JLT Cold Air Intake, 4.30 gears, and SCT Xcalibrator 2 Tuner. I am hoping to put down around 325hp to 350hp and 375tq to 400tq to the wheels with this setup. Hopefully this setup will net me a low 12 sec run in the 1/4 mile also. What do you guys think of my setup choice??

Reference mods and 12's --- I did a 12.93 with less than your specs. Good luck, just keep it on the track. Holding your own on the street is a problem for obvious reasons.

You might hit the lower part of the hp you listed, but I doubt you'll hit the torque #'s...You'll need more than the mods you listed to get there. I've got a CAI, Cat Back, Electric Water Pump, Aluminum Flywheel, intake spacer and a tune, and I'm putting down 302hp/327ft-lbs at the rear wheels. From the factory, most of 'em only put down 260-280 hp at the rear wheels.

I would be happy with that. What about a good set of cams? Do you think I would get some decent power from a cam upgade and if so which ones?

Welcome and congrats.checked out your mod list I would do a crap load of research before you drop all that coin.This site is wonderful for that but also find yourself a local mustang expert and pick his or her brain.Get to track do some runs, get some speed and times then go get a dyno.If you know someone with a predator have them plug in during the dyno and get some detailed numbers on where you car can get the most gain.then choose you mods.your going in blind w/o those details.

If you decide to get cams, you need to make that car breathe better. Long tube headers is a must, at least.

My buddy Matt Hayes is running a 4v Aviator motor in his '99 GT and he's putting down 380 to the wheels with Crower Stage 2 n/a cams, full exhaust with tubes, a couple of other bolt ons, and a good tune. His car is an absolute beast.

So, it's possible, but match your parts carefully so you can get the most out of them.

talked to a couple guys about your mods.one of which has dyno'd, tuned, rebuilt a ton of stangs including 30 or more 03, 04 mach's. dont want to bore you with info you dont want so if your interested in what they had to say PM me. Otherwise goodluck with your mods and let us know what mod did what to your performance.

Yeah I have been reading how that is highly advised when doing a gear swap, so I was planning on doing that also.

If you go with a ProCharger, I wouldn't get any gear higher then 3.90's unless you're planning on making it a drag car. A ProCharged Mach 1 is no joke!

Also be conservative with the boost a get a great tuner because that 10:1 compression can be your downfall.
