99-01 32v 320bhp motor. Is it the same as the Mach 1 motor?
Hi.
My Mach 1 and I are in the UK, so most of the options open to you guys are not practical for me. My motor has a big-end bearing failure (oil starvation, my fault) and I'm about to pull the motor to rebuild the engine. This will take some time as I need to strip before I can order parts, which then need to ship from the US. A 2000 320bhp 4.6 32v Cobra motor has come up on eBay and I'm wondering whether I should buy and fit that instead. It's eBay item 173248183077 for reference. The code on it is 0G839AA. I'm confused as I thought the Cobra was supercharged, but this motor doesn't have a supercharger. I also thought it ran a lower compression ratio, so would be a dog without the supercharger. Can someone who knows their modular motors tell me what the differences are? I will message the seller to ask similar questions when I get home and have access to my eBay password. Richard |

The '99 and '01 Cobra motors were not supercharged; that started in '03.

99/01 Cobra is an aluminum block n/a 32v 9.8:1 comp that makes 320hp
03/04 Mach 1 is an aluminum block n/a 32v 10.1:1 comp that makes 310hp 03/04 Cobra is an iron block supercharged 32v 8.5:1 comp that makes 390hp A 2000 Cobra was the Cobra R There are slight intake cam and cylinder head differences between the 99/01 engines and the 03/04 engines. A search here will go into better detail..

if you have had oil starvation and it messed up the bottom end I can pretty much promise you the heads are trashed too
a 99/01 motor would be a reasonable option. I believe the marauder was the same as a mach but the intake is clocked the other direction (just replace with yours)

The Aviator and Marauder engines were the same automatic Mach 1 engines, with minor variations. The '99/01 Cobra engines were similar in architecture, but not the same. The Mach 1 has better bottom end thanks to the choice of cams.

They are almost the same. You should be able to swap any Mach 1 specific stuff from your old engine to the Cobra engine. Keep the Cobra intake cams though, they better
