Idle rpm????

I've noticed for a while that she was idling low, 500-600. Well, while adjusting my WOT fuel at the track I noticed an asterisk by the "idle rpm" setting in my diablo tuner, indicating that it's been changed. I have no clue how this could've happened. Sure enough, it was set at 554, down from stock 704. The tuner rpm settings go in increments of 50 so it was 3 notches off. I set it back to stock but was thinking that lower idle rpm would be a little less gas and wear over the long term. So is it okay to lower it back?? Thx in advance for any input.

Re: Idle rpm????

I had dropped my idle a long time ago, but occasionally I would experience a stall so I raised it back up. Other then that and possibly low vacuum affecting the power brakes you should be fine.

Re: Idle rpm????

Mine used to idle at 700 when it had the factory tune. After the diablow canned tune it went up to 800.

Not the answer to your question, but just thought I'd share.

Re: Idle rpm????

Put it back to stock. Lower idles risk it stalling out more often... especially when coming to a stop. You could have your car stall out when in the shut down part of the track. Don't really want to lose power steering and brakes when doing 100+ LOL

It's been low for a while and havent' stalled once because I'm always in gear unless stop or close to there. I coast in 5th, instead of putting it in neutral, in the shutdown area after stalling once a long time ago. The std. setting in my Diablo is 704, I just keep it there.

Re: Idle rpm????

i dont have any tunes or anything in my mach and out of nowhere the idle dropped to about 500-550 or so over the last couple months. used to be in the 700 range like it should be. it's still running strong, so no idea what happened there

I thought stock was 750 or at least what mine was with 7r50d. When I received my custom tune from Kmac based off the 9r07b crom it was set at 704 and I thought that was low so I asked him to add the 750 which he did and have not looked back.

Re: Idle rpm????

mine is also set to 800 via custom tune. stock longblock.

now that i think about it a slightly lower idle (700-750) would be a nice change.
